Chapter 2 I. PORTALIA

The lone Archein was tired of coming back and forth to her parents' realms.
'Ei! És tan difícil ser mig Mallacor i mig Hariaq!’ (Hey! It is so hard to be half Mallacor and half Hariaq!) she thought to herself.
She did not want to live in Hardivez—her father’s hometown. It was too hot for her because she is half-blooded. That was the only reason she didn't want to live there. She did not even care about the Hariaq who seemed disgusted by her and made fun of her for having the blood of a Mallacor. She has a strong personality that she inherited from her Hariaq roots.
Moreover, she was also uncomfortable in her mother’s home in Mallachra. That place was too quiet for her. The Mallacors she met there were too modest and boring. Though it is undeniable that the Mallacors were truly plain and clean-minded, for not once did they judge her despite her being half Hariaq. There were times when she disturbed the silence and peace of them because she could not help but make noise when she was there. She was the sole cause of the noise in Mallachra. Most of the time she was deafened by the extreme silence within the realm.
"Aella! No pararàs?! Ves al teu Victo, estàs molestant els Mallacor!" (Aella! Won't you stop?! Go to your Victo, you are bothering the Mallacors!) Her mother was the only Mallacor to shout occasionally at Mallarcha—it is always because of her. She did not want to disobey her mother but there were times she could not help strum the guitar—a gift from her father.
The woman in front of her is already screaming but still looks soft and elegant compared to the Hariaqs she meets in Hardivez. A typical Hariaq has sharp eyes whereas the Mallacors have doe eyes. Their faces always have a peaceful expression.
"Forci, fa molta calor a Hardivez," (Forci, it's hot in Hardivez,) she secretly rolled her eyes at her mother and pouted her lips.
"Ho has de suportar, Cin. Esteu molestant els Mallacor així que quedeu-vos-hi mentrestant. Ara mateix!" (You have to bear with it, Cin. You're disturbing the Mallacors so stay there for the meantime. Now!) She obeyed her mother reluctantly. It was her punishment for strumming her guitar again. Though her mother confiscated her old guitar, she was given a new one by her conscientious father.
"Maleït Hardivez. Fa tant calor, calor, calor!" (D*mn Hardivez. It's so hot, so hot, so hot!) she repeated while walking down the chaotic road of Hardivez.
As her mother wanted, she was here in her father's place. Every time she disobeyed her mother, she made her do things she did not want to do—like staying in this place, the Hardivez. If Mallachra is too quiet and boring for her, it was the other way around in Hardivez. Apart from the very hot temperature there, it was also very rowdy, and she did not like it. She barely heard the music when she strummed her guitar.
"Fa calor! Molt calent! Gah! Fa tanta calor!" (It's hot! Very hot! Gah! It's so hot!) As she complained about the high temperature of the place, she did not realize that she is now in the forbidden part of Hardivez.
She is facing the tall building situated in the most secluded part of Vandeshna. It stands amid the kingdom of Mallachra and the kingdom of Hardivez but distant from the mouth of both kingdoms. Only the guards of this building and the high-ranking officials of the two realms can get a foothold in this area.
She felt shocked, astonished, and eager to disobey the order. She has Hariaq's blood running in her veins so being presumptuous and rebellious is expected from her.
She is standing before a gigantic door that is fifty times bigger than a normal door. The small crack in the door with the faint and strange sound coming from beyond fueled her audacity and curiosity . It was an inviting, captivating piece of music to her. Music that seemed to bring to life her being Archein.
'Què podria ser això?' (What could that be?)
'D'on ve aquest so?' (Where was that sound coming from?)
Aella could not help but think about the charming and addicting sound she heard.
Out of insatiable curiosity, she pushed the giant door slowly and with all her might. Her eyes widened when she discovered what was beyond that extensive golden object.
"Portalia."
It was a portal. She rushed in front of the huge door and scrutinized it. She did not stop until her curiosities were satisfied.
"Mhortaeo," she said, looking at the engraving in the lower right of the door. She was not mistaken. Archein grinned and came back on the other side of that gigantic thing. This is an enormous room and there is only one portal inside—the Archein supposed would bring her the silence and tranquility she longed for. Not too quiet, not too noisy. It is like the noise she hears from the portal.
She smiled at the thought of her guitar but it also vanished quickly when she remembered that she left it at her father's house. That place is too far from where she is. If she comes back for that, she could be caught and the big room could be locked up by the time she returned. She did not have time to return to her father's place because anyone could notice the room left open and his disappearance at any time. Perhaps her father was already looking for her.
'Quina llàstima, sembla que hauria estat divertit fer música i tocar la guitarra a Mhortaeo.' (What a shame, it seems it would have been fun to make music and play guitar in Mhortaeo.) The regret of having the opportunity to play the guitar where she was going crossed her mind.
'Està bé. Potser també hi ha sha-sha al lloc dels Mortal.' (It’s fine. Maybe there are guitars in the Mortals’ place too.)
