[Prologue] A paramedic team hurried a man who had skin shattered all over his body and was bleeding heavily from his head and arm into the emergency units located in the west wing of a hospital. He was having trouble breathing, and blood appeared to be gushing from his skull without any indication that it might be stopped. Even though he was involved in a near-fatal vehicle accident, he was aware that something more serious was taking his life. He sensed something slowly engulfing, taking control of his body from within and he could feel it spreading throughout his entire being. He wished he could have told the doctor or someone else, but he was only able to open his mouth wide and gasping for air. Nothing was uttered by him. “What's the status of his health?” a person dressed in a white coat queried. “His temperature is falling rapidly. He suffers from internal haemorrhage, heart failure...” Another man in white, who appeared to be a nurse, was speaking to the doctor and said, "We tried everything we could. It's hard to say whether or not he'll make it through the next five minutes...” The doctor issued an order that said, “Okay, make an effort to make it less painful for him.” He had no doubt that what Nathan had said was entirely accurate. It was unnecessary for him to inquire in the first place. It was only a test to see how the nurse would react. “Thanks Nathan.” “No trouble at all, Doctor Benji,” The nurse, Nathan, managed a hesitant but comforting smile. The nurse started his shift by administering a sedative and a few additional medications to the patient in order to make them feel more comfortable and reduce their level of pain. The man's mouth was quickly opened and closed multiple times. The nurse speculated that it was the result of the medication starting to work. He had no idea that the man was trying to warn him, but his attempts to do so went unnoticed. The man passed away within a minute and a half. The body was moved to another room so that it might be cleaned there. Nathan, the nurse, had little more than a glimmer of optimism that they would locate the family soon. During this time, another horrific event took place in the same hospital, specifically in the east wing. A young lady in her seventeenth year sobbed uncontrollably. In the span of only two days, she had gone from being hopeful to utterly distraught. A doctor expressed his regret to his patient and said, “I'm sorry.” The feeling of remorse cast a shadow over his eyes. “I really want to be able to do better than this...” “No, Doctor Allen. You have done enough. In fact, you have done more than enough...” She sobbed while covering her face with her hands and hiding her face from the world. “So, roughly speaking, how much time did I have?” “Because your disease has progressed to its final stage, I estimate that you have between two and three months...” The doctor came to assist her in an attempt to put an end to his feelings of guilt once and for all, but he was unsuccessful. “I sincerely apologise...” The young lady thanked Allen for his help all this time and dried her tears before leaving. Allen was experiencing the one feeling he detested most so early in the morning: guilt. He was well aware that this would take place at any moment. Every single day, each and every hour, and each and every second, people were dying in front of him. He had to acknowledge that working as an oncologist may occasionally be frustrating and could be challenging at times. He also had to concede that one of the reasons he enjoyed his profession so much was that it allowed him to assist others and made a difference in people's lives was another perk of his employment. However, this also implies that he detested the times when he was unable to assist or save the people. Sighing, he began paced aimlessly across the oncologist department floor. Right on the third level of the hospital, a different situation was also playing out. While sweeping and mopping the floor, a man started singing along to his favourite song. He was only a janitor with the name Dominique printed on his name tag. Even though he was simply a kid working as a part-time janitor, he cherished his position in this medical facility. For him, the pay was decent and cool enough. In addition to that, he required side income to meet his day-to-day requirements. At least until he found a respectable occupation befitting his level of study after he graduates. Simply put, he was a student at the local university. Yes, he received a scholarship for his studies since he was intelligent. The scholarship helped cover his education costs, but he could use some extra cash and a part-time job would make his life a great deal. Having work experience on his resume while he is still in school is a plus. He just needed to be patient and persevere through a lot of pain. The mockery from the employees, especially the doctors who think they were smarter than anybody else, would not be a problem for him. What else could be worse than that? It seemed that everything was running smoothly at the hospital. The staff appeared to be dedicated to their work and capable of carrying out their duties. But what if something actually did take place? Something that is extremely dangerous and has the potential to kill anyone in the hospital? Something that even the most skilled doctor could not treat? Nobody had any idea what kind of a terrible catastrophe was about to befall them, and their very humanity will be put to the test.
