Chapter 54
At 2 am
Sanaya was sleeping in her room when some hazy voice was getting to her ears. Slowly the voice was getting loud as if someone was screaming.
In her subconscious mind, she thought it was just a dream. She turned to her left, keeping her eyes shut. But she could still hear it.
Suddenly she got up and tried listening to the voice, to make sure if she was dreaming or... But then she heard, it was sounding none other than Nick's voice. 'Nick...' She quickly ran towards his room.
The more she was getting closer the voice was sounding more painful as if the person was screaming and crying at the same time.
She tried to open the door and found out it was locked from inside. Hitting at the door Sanaya let out in a panic voice, "Nick, what happened? Open the door!"
She hit on the door again as she said, "Can you hear me? Nick, open the door!"
Nick didn't open the door and it was making her more worried. She was feeling more uneasy, she hit on the door loudly and said, "Open the door! What should I do now? Mrs... Mrs. Elisa...."
Thinking she could help her, Sanaya turned to go downstairs but then the door shot open. As she turned around she saw Nick standing at the door.
She quickly get in and asked him in a concerned voice, "Are you okay?"
With a slight nod, Nick said, "What are you doing here?"
"I heard some noises coming from this room so... I thought you..." She touched her chest and was scanning the whole room.
"Noises? You heard it wrong." Putting his hands in his pocket he said so in a heavy tone.
Sanaya was sure she heard it. Why he was lying? "Why are you sweating?" Sanaya saw droplets of sweat on his forehead and his neck too.
To hide it, Nick quickly turned around and touched his forehead, "It's too hot so...."
Sanaya walked towards his bed. She wanted to check it herself if anything was wrong. "What are you doing?" But as she was stopped by him. He stood Infront of her and didn't let her walk anymore.
"I am sure I heard it. Something is wrong."
Nick scoffed and said, "No, nothing is wrong. I told you you heard it wrong." And with those words, he touched her hand and took her out as he saw her look here and there.
"Wait, let me check. I'm serious, you must be hiding something from me." She protested but she was thrown out of his room before she could do anything.
He stood at the door, making sure she could not get in. No way, she could know anything.
"Why? Are you worried about me?" Until now she was worried about him. If not so she would still be sleeping maybe but since he made a barrier first, why would she cross it? She didn't want to lie so she chose to not answer him.
"Good night." Saying so she turned to leave but suddenly he held her hand from behind.
Nick was feeling so helpless. He didn't want her to know the truth about him. He was afraid of involving her in his darkness which he didn't want to do.
"You want to say something?" She asked him seeing him silently holding her hand.
Nick didn't know why, what he knew was she could calm him down. She could comfort him, she could cure him and she could stay with him but... 'I don't want to hurt you. You don't need to know anything, I... I am a pathetic man, I can't even protect myself. How can I then...'
"Ni... Mr. Davis?" He was silently looking at her while holding her hand. So she snapped her fingers in front of his eyes.
"Can you hug me?" He asked her in a soft tone. Not like his usual cold tone but rather a weak and soft one, as if he was requesting her.
"What..."
"Just five... No two. Two minutes..." She saw him mostly as a tough man. But tonight, he seemed to be sad, weak, and helpless. He didn't need to say anything, she could understand that least.
"Come." Saying so Sanaya hugged him. Nick embraced her silently. As they said men shouldn't be crying, he didn't do such even in that situation when he was really scared, but he couldn't talk about it.
He hugged her tighter. Her warmth was all he needed, he was feeling safe. He was forgetting all his pain as if hugging her did some magic. His heart was not heavy anymore, he was no more fearful.
Sanaya patted her hand on his back slowly. "Are you really ok? Nick." She thought.
Ten minutes passed, they were still at the same place. "Mr. Davis?" Hearing nothing from him she called out his name but he did not say anything nor did he move.
"Mr. Davis?" She called again. When his one hand holding her hand, his other hand getting loosened over her back.
Sanaya moved her head, trying to look at his face. Only then did she see his eyes were closed. "Nick, are you asleep?"
"You are a grown-up man, how come you fell asleep while hugging me? Nick?" She uttered but how could he answer her when he was asleep.
Letting out a sigh Sanaya held him tight. 'How will I take you to the bed now?' Somehow she took him to bed and laid him on the bed. Sitting next to him she glared at him. "Sometimes you act so differently..." Sanaya looked at his hand, when did he hold her finger she didn't know but she couldn't control her smile.
"Since you are sleeping, I will leave ok?" Sanaya tried to remove their entangled fingers but Nick didn't let her go. He instead held her hand and hugged it.
"Wait, I..." She was left alone as he was sleeping. What could she do? "You are something you know? Hey!" Seeing him not reacting Sanaya let out a sigh.
'I am letting you go off only this once.' Sanaya kissed his forehead gently. As he was holding her hand she couldn't go anywhere, she was thinking of what to do. Then she thought of something, "Wait, you are my husband so this bed should be mine too. Yeah, what if I sleep here? Since you have started it, I can show you proof if you say anything tomorrow morning." Smiling devilishly Sanaya slept next to him.
She turned her head to her right at Nick. 'We could be happy every day if you wanted it, Nick.' She closed her eyes while looking at him...
This was not what she thought she would do but if fate has another plan for her, what can she do?
The Next Morning
After a long time, it was a perfectly peaceful sleep for him. Nick could see the sunlight peeking through the curtains, he forgot when was the last time since he could wake up this way. Not terrified, no parasomnia, nothing.
Getting up he sat on the bed. Such a fresh morning that he wanted to go jogging. 'It's been so long.' He thought. Just when he was about to touch his face he understood he was holding someone's hand.
Quickly turning his head to the left he was surprised for a moment. "What is she doing in my room? And my bed?" He asked himself.
"Good morning." Seeing her wake up he wished her.
"Morning." Sanaya sat on the bed, next to him. When he was thinking of what could happen last night and if he did something, she was surprised to see him still holding her hand.
Jerking her hand she asked him, "Do you want me to hug you again?"
"Huh?"
As she pointed her hand towards his hand Nick let her hand go. Then the scene from last night appeared in his mind. "Are you okay?" He asked her.
Sanaya nodded her head and getting up she walked towards the door, "I am leaving."
"Wait." He ran to her and started moving her right to left and left to right. Surprised and confused she kept looking at him. "What's wrong?"
"Did I hurt you last night? I... I have done anything harmful to you?" He looked at her hands, to make sure he didn't hurt her as he hurts himself.
When he is not in himself he knows he can hurt anybody near him and that's the reason he made sure he stays alone at night.
"Why would you hurt me? What are you saying?" Sanaya could see him freaking out. What could be the reason and why he was even saying that he could hurt her? She had no idea of his weird talking.
Seeing her fine, he let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully she was ok. Strangely he pushed her away in the instant and his voice turned into a rather serious and cold one. "You can go now."
"That's all?"
"Yes. Leave." It was surprising to see him change so fast. What could go wrong? Did she do something to make him angry? Sanaya was thinking about what could make him angry but then before she could get an answer she was thrown out of his room by him.
Strange! Sanaya bared her teeth annoyingly and shouted out loudly, "You are so annoying you know? Last night, you were hugging me and now you have done this to me. Ok, you remember. I will do the same too, I have to get my time too. Just wait and see!" She furiously blurted out.
"What's his problem huh? It's my fault, I shouldn't have been melted. Oii, I don't understand what's wrong with him! Why he changes so fast? Seriously..."
Standing at the opposite of the door when Sanaya was saying everything angrily Nick was looking at the scars on his body. Those scars were what he did to himself. 'I don't want to leave scars on your body and heart, forgive me for being harsh.'
Suddenly hearing notifications coming from his cell phone, Nick looked around. As he saw his phone on the couch he went to the couch. He sat on the bed lazily and looked at the screen. Just then his body temperature started rising.
He clenched his fists angrily and called Kyle immediately. "Who dared to release this piece of shit?"
"Mr. Davis, actually it's..." Kyle was afraid of this. He knew once Nick would see it the situation would be out of control. But even though he tried he couldn't make anybody take that news down.
"It's what? I want to know who has the guts to make this trash-like news about my wife. I will make sure tha...." Nick asserted as he was furious.
Kyle gulped in a deep sigh, he was preparing to tell him everything anyway. With collecting all his courage Kyle finally announced, "Mr. Davis, that news is not fake. It's true that..."
"Do you know what are you saying?"
"Yes, Mrs. Davis has really signed the contract. It's confirmed that she is the female lead. And everything written in that news is true. She is a famous model and actress n..." Hearing Kyle he threw his phone on the wall. He couldn't control his anger. Getting up he walked out of his room and headed towards hers...Download Novelah App
