The next morning
An ambrosial smell wafted in the room, it started hitting Nick's nostrils. Still having his eyes closed, he turned his head slightly to his right to find out where it was coming from. Opening his eyes, Nick found Sanaya to be gone. The aroma somehow was not overpowering but fresh. 'Could it be that she is cooking?'
Nick quickly walked out of his room, walking downstairs and following the delicious smell, his eyes fixed on his wife in the kitchen who was now busy cooking. Sanaya had a light red colored silk saree on when her hair was in a messy bun, the corner of her saree was tugged on her waist. Nick was looking at her while standing on the stairs, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Just like a year ago, he could remember how she looked exactly the same and so beautiful.
“Ahh…”
Sanaya hissed a little and he suddenly ran towards her. Grabbing her finger worriedly he uttered, “Call Benson right now. Faster.”
“Wait, no need to call him.”
"What are you all waiting for? Didn't you hear me? Call Benson to come here right now. Go!" Nick's voice came out as serious and as cold as ever. Everybody standing there felt shivers running down their spines. Nobody dared to waste anymore seconds. Mrs. Elisa was thinking of explaining things to him. But before she could do anything Sanaya proclaimed, "Hey, don't make a ruckus over such a trivial matter. It's just a little cut, and as you see, I'm absolutely ok. So no need to call anyone, I'll…"
This time Sanaya also stopped uttering anymore words. Nick gaped at her coldly as if he was so enraged and would do something right now.
"I…"
No more wasting time, Nick suddenly took her in his arms and walked past Mrs. Elisa.
"Mr. Davis, here's the first aid kit. And also, Dr. Benson is already on his way." A maid reported to him while keeping her head down. "Hey, put me down." Sanaya uttered but surprisingly he put her on the counter and grabbed the first aid kit from the maid's hand.
"Nick."
He ignored her completely while bandaging her finger. It was seemingly unnecessary. Sanaya could see how enraged he was, but he seemed worried about her at the same time.
"Why is he not here yet? Huh!" Nick started getting all worked up again. "Forget it, I will call him myself. Why is he not here yet…" he mumbled.
As he was about to call Benson, Sanaya took his phone from his hand and he looked at her. "Give it back, he…"
"Look at me."
Sanaya touched his face abruptly and pulled him close. His eyes fell so filled with concern for her, she couldn't help but smile as she saw him this worried for her for the first time.
"I'm going to fire him, what type of doctor is he! He is not here yet when this is so urgent. How can he be so careless… and you Philip, how dare you let my wife cook? You are…"
As if he was about to fire every one, one by one. Feeling the atmosphere was getting complicated and not good for anyone, she held his hand and dragged him out of the kitchen. "You all dared to…" he was surprised.
"You all, go and do your jobs. No need to be worried." She said so while pulling Nick upstairs. She cunningly ended the ruckus.
"I'm not finished yet. I've to be tough, they are getting freed too much these days huh. Not working and…" he was still mumbling.
Getting in the room Sanaya pushed him on the sofa and showing her finger she asserted, "Look at my cut. You've already bandaged it so there's nothing to be worried about."
"There is. You have to get an injection, and the cut was…"
"No way, it's just a little cut. Why would I take an injection? And look at the way you bandaged it, as if I'm so hurt."
"This is serious so…"
"No, it's not."
"It is."
"We are not arguing anymore. When I said it's serious then it is. Give me my phone back, I will call…"
As he stepped towards her to take it from her, Sanaya ran some inches away from him and uttered, "Never. You will call him for no reason. If you promise to not call him then I'll give it back to you. Until then forget it."
"I can't promise you that. Now, give it back."
"I won't." Sanaya quickly ran towards the door as he was intended to take it. Seeing how she wouldn't be able to fight him, she immediately wrapped it with the corner of her saree and then stuck it on her waist.
Standing before her he was about to get it but damn, he missed it. Sanaya had a playful smile playing on her lips. "Take it if you can."
Nick extended his hand towards her waist and she bit her lips thinking of what he was gonna do. 'Is he really…'
But then he stopped. Taking a breath he gaped at her, "Do you think you can stop me by doing this? I can have anybody call him if I want."
Sanaya grabbed his hand all of a sudden as she did not want to let him go. "What are you doing?"
She was silent but dragging him towards the bathroom when he looked at her confusingly.
"What?"
Getting in he asked her. "Wash your face and get ready for work if you are going to then. Breakfast will be ready when you come down."
"Wait, I have to…"
Not listening to him, she pushed him in the bathroom. "No more talking."
Thankfully she stopped him, she thought so. She woke up early in the morning so she could cook for him and make him feel better but who knew, something like this would happen.
Nearly an hour passed reluctantly, Sanaya was sitting on the sofa and playing guitar. It had been a week since she hadn't played it.
Ting tong!
Hearing a sound coming from her cell phone she put the guitar aside and walked towards the table in her room.
She couldn't even utter even a single word and she could hear Mona panicking from the other side of the call.
"Sanaya sis, something bad happened." Mona said so in her panicked tone.
"Calm down and then tell me what's wrong."
"I don't know if it was because of that award case or not but… everybody is terminating their contracts with us."
"What? What are you saying?"
Mona walked back and forth while talking at speed. "Yes, they are terminating their contracts with us. Sis, what to do now?"
"And the reason? They need to tell us beforehand, did they inform you? If not we will sue them..."
"No, they didn't… I also don't know what's wrong, how can they do this to us…"
Sanaya knew Mona couldn't just be kidding. Something happened for sure. She immediately ran out of her room while talking to Mona over the phone. She had her own plan.
Without looking around nor watching out she was running out of the grand foyer. But then Mrs. Elisa stood on her way.
"Sanaya, is everything ok?"
"Ahh yes, everything is ok. I have important work to do so I have to go." With that she put the phone under her pocket.
She was about to get in the car but just then she saw Benson and Nick to show up before her. Seeing both of them together she stopped there.
"Good morning, sis-in-law."
"Ahh morning."
"Where are you going now? He's here to...."
Sanaya interrupted him as she was in a hurry. "I have something important to do so I have to go."
"What is it? Tell me and I will handle it. No need to go anywhere." Nick told her.
Right, he was powerful, he had money and power both. Maybe he could get her the contracts back in no time and he could even get her new roles but until now she worked hard to get where she is today. So no more thoughts came to her mind.
"It's ok. I can handle this much." With that she got in the car.
Benson and Nick were standing there until she left. Nick had thought of everything to be just like this though. He knew she wouldn't take his help, the more time passing by she was really impressing him more.
"Nick…"
Hearing Benson calling him, Nick turned towards him. "What?"
"In a relationship, you should not lie. Lying and using tricks will only make things worse. You should know that." Patting on his shoulder Benson walked past him. Nick knew what he was doing. Surely he knew, in a relationship, what was to be done and what not at the least but he had his own plans.
