Chapter 66

"What is he doing here?" She pronounced subconsciously while gawking at the person who was subsisting far from her in the throng.
He looked attractive and cool in a green vintage suit he wore when the tattoo on his chest could be seen infrequently through the black shirt he had on, his black hair was in a messy bun and he had a serious look on his face.
Sanaya had a lot of questions playing in her mind. She was still standing all blank but suddenly Nick called her name and she whirled towards him. Oh, she totally forgot him. Unintentional action!
"Is something disturbing you?" He raised a question in a worried tone.
Sanaya nodded her head in contradiction. "Then why do you look so lost? I feel something is bothering you."
"No, it's nothing."
When she was talking to him, she looked to her left to see if that guy was still there but strange, he was nowhere near to be seen. Stunned, she looked around but the far her eyes could check out, she did not see him.
"Wait, what are you doing?"
Seeing Nick hold her hand she quickly pulled her hand back.
Nick gaped at her and answered, "I want to dance with you."
"What? No way, we can't dance here." She retorted.
"We can. Come with me." Saying so as he extended his hand to get hers she immediately trudged back. She glanced at the reporters who were standing at some distance from them and then she proclaimed, "Did you forget that we are strangers in the public? If we dance together they will get a chance to publish a new article."
Who cared for such things? He was not bothered anyway. When he was there, nobody would be able to get near her. He could control the media. That's how much powerful he was. Did she forget? Sanaya raised one of her eyebrows as she saw him smile.
"What's so funny?"
Nick strolled towards her and holding her arms gently he stared into her eyes. "What..." For no reason, she would be criticized because of him. Didn't he know? She wondered why he didn't care when it was about her.
"I want to dance with my wife, who got a problem with that?" The things that happened recently pissed Sanaya, he had his plan to let them know that he was after her and...
'His wife' these days she noted he called her that mostly. "Everyone. Nobody knows that I am your wife. So they will think that I am just trying to... Anyway, we must act like strangers so there won't be any suspicion..."
"But I want to dance with you."
"Then why don't you go and tell the whole world that we are married. Do it first, only then we can dance in the public. Now, goodbye." Sanaya strode some inches away from him and bowing her head slightly she glimmered at him against her gritted teeth. "Do not follow me, Mr. Davis. Thank you."
"Wait, but ..."
She sauntered away in the crowd before his eyes. Nick was standing alone, annoyed. Didn't she know he came here for her? He thought he would spend time with her, it went all in vain. Geez!
He could only see her vanishing in the crowd. When he was standing there all annoyed, Kyle reached there. "I don't see Mrs. Davis, isn't she here already?"
"She ran away."
"Huh? Ran... Ran away?" Kyle stared at him confusingly as he was astonished to hear him.
"She said we can't dance in public as it will create suspicion." Nick sounded sad. Kyle felt bad for him as he heard his voice tone.
"Why don't you reveal to the media that you guys are married for... Oh right, we don't know yet who's after you. If they know she is your wife, she will be in danger too... I forgot it."
As soon as Kyle completed his line, Nick looked at the ring on his finger. That was his wedding ring. Right, long ago he wanted to tell the whole world that she was his wife. But he just couldn't throw her in danger. Even though he could probably protect her but the thought of her being in danger because of him, pulverized his thoughts.
"Any news of the attacker from the last time?" Nick and Kyle, both were sauntering side by side when Kyle got two glasses of wine for himself and his boss.
To Nick's question, Kyle answered him. "Unfortunately, they didn't leave any trace behind this time too. But we are still searching. We have to be careful until we find something." Hearing him Nick let out a sigh. He did not know who it was that wanted him dead so badly but he promised to himself, that once he would find them he would ask them what he had ever done that they wanted him to die. Nick was sure that it was not because of business meaning, they were after him for some other reason. Since last year, they kept attacking him but thankfully, he had such competent bodyguards that he was saved every time. Though Sanaya had no idea about this. He ordered everyone to not utter even a single word about this matter to her. She was the most precious to him, he didn't want her to get involved.
There, Sanaya was squatting on a chair. 'Where did Mona go? Didn't she say she would just pick up the call? I am getting so bored alone...'
How annoyed she was! Neither she could take off her mask nor she could talk to anybody. She was in such a situation, she hated it. And how sadly, she came here for nothing. She didn't even have any idea who was the person who invited her here to come, she was not even sure if she saw that guy or it was only her illusion.
When she was sitting still and mumbling in her mind, she felt someone behind her. Turning around she let out, "What took you... So... You?"
She got up at the sight of that guy she just met a while ago. No, it couldn't be said that they met though... It was a sneak peek.
"Long time no see." The guy contended.
Sanaya kept her fists clutched gently while dishing, "Long time... No see."
"You might have forgotten me, I am..."
"I know... You are Virat."
"Oh, you remember. That's great."
Sanaya remembered the first time when she saw him in the photo. Not much changed in him though and she was good at remembering people. The guy who just introduced himself as Virat noticed her fists were clenched, he noticed her sudden movements. He could tell she was not feeling good as if she was uncomfortable.
Virat snickered and as he was about to say something but she took the chance cunningly and initiated, "Were you the one who told me to come here? I mean the message... Was it you who sent it?"
"Yeah, it was me."
Hearing him she gaped at him. How did he know everything about her? She wanted to know. He probably could tell that.
Instead of talking he rather expanded his hand towards her with a smile on his face. "Why don't we talk while dancing?"
"Dancing?"
"Yes. So will you dance with me? Miss Roy Chowdhury." Sanaya glanced at his hand that he forwarded towards her. She was not pleasant to meet him like this but since she knew that he called her here and that he could help her, she was in a crisis about whether to give her hand to his.
'I need to know why he wants to help me and how did he find me... Let's dance with him so I can figure it out.' With those thoughts, she gave her hand to his hand.
She still had her mask on while they were dancing. It was kind of awkward. Though she didn't want to take it into note she felt uncomfortable as she was dancing with him. After all, he was here...
"How have you been these past two years?" Virat's question dragged her out of her fantasy. She came off astounded as she retorted to him, "Good... How... about you?"
"I have been doing fine too."
She heard him answering. Though the music was ok but she was feeling so listless. She was getting weary, how odd. 'Didn't I want to ask him questions? Why I don't feel like asking now? I feel like I should better stay away from him but why... wait, since he knows where am I. Did he tell my family about my whereabouts? What if grandpa already...'
She remembered in her family, everybody liked Virat more or less but among them, her grandpa liked him the most. Since they were close, she was getting worrisome more now. What if he told him about her and he was already on his way to the USA? She knew him, her grandpa was stubborn. He would take her back to India the moment he appears in the USA. Far more, she was married now and even to a Christian guy. Her grandpa would kill her if he was to know it The thought of it alone was making her swallow. What could she do if her grandpa really... Getting frightened she suddenly yanked herself away from Virat and her back struck someone. To apologize as she reversed, she enlarged her eyes.

Since when I was teen, I seldom imagine myself being the person referred from the book or novels I have read, and somehow dreamt of having it happen in my life.😍
