Chapter 31

"We're good," Eleanor says as she continues to do her homework.
Hearing that coming from Eleanor, Taylor isn't quite satisfy with her sister's answer. Of course, she knew that they would probably be on good terms, but that's not the case. She wanted to know if their relationship got any further the kiss that happened between the two.
"I see," Taylor says. "And you guys haven't thought about taking things further?"
Eleanor's gaze suddenly shows a look of mixed feelings. Hearing Taylor's question, Eleanor found it a bit surprising that she felt a weird feeling in her chest. Though she appreciated Joey's decision and understood his reasons why he didn't want to be involved in anything further than friendship, when Taylor bought up the question, it's like her old hopes are coming back alive, giving her an agitated type of feeling. Yet, realizing that Joey had his reasons, she knew that it's probably for the best that they just maintain their friendship, even though that wasn't really what she wanted 100%. Just because she love their friendship bond, it doesn't mean she's not hoping for a deeper connection.
"Well, we thought that it would be better to not change whatever we had now," Eleanor states, though deep inside, she knew well that she's definetly hoping for something else despite agreeing with Joey's decision.
Taylor raise her left eyebrow as she stares at Eleanor with a puzzled look. She found it odd for Eleanor to not want to take things further, especially knowing that Eleanor had no idea that Taylor is also crushing on him. Why would she need to stop going further when she doesn't even know that Taylor also has feelings for Joey? By that, Taylor wanted to know more why the hell did those two didn't even bother to begin a deeper relationship.
"I see. By any chance, did you ever thought about taking things further?" Taylor asks.
Eleanor sighs. "Well, honestly I talked to him about that matter."
"What? Really?" Taylor asks, thinking she could have misheard what she just heard.
"Yeah. I actually asked him if we could take things further. But he told me that he might not have the ability to be a good boyfriend, by that he didn't want to ruin whatever we had now," Eleanor states, though the thought of it still hurt her a bit whenever it passes her head.
Hearing this, Taylor could feel a part of her heart feeling relief to know that both her sister and best friend aren't involved in any sort of further relationship behind her back. Even though she also felt selfish that she didn't wish for Eleanor to be with Joey, even though she knew well that she had liked him before Taylor even started having attractions towards him. Yet, knowing that Joey tried to fulfilled his promise of not dating her or Eleanor made her feel a small burst of happiness inside. Despite the mistakes he did, Taylor was glad that he didn't took things further.
"I see," Taylor says, in a rather awkward tone in which she tries her best to hide.
"Well, he had a point. I would rather only be friends than to be strangers eventually," Eleanor states, trying to sound as if the topic never even bother her mind.
"You're right," Taylor says. "And how about you and Fred?"
"We're ok I guess. He's pretty cool," Eleanor says in a casual tone.
"Well, I think he's really into you," Taylor says in a bit of a playful tone.
Eleanor smiles at the thought of the guy with sapphire-hazel eyes. So far, she found Fred to be a nice person. Other than being helpful to her regarding her homeworks, he's mature and chill nature had made Eleanor found him attractive. He's like the cool elder brother that you knew the other girls would probably be crushing on. Yet, to Eleanor, she hasn't found any deeper feelings for him yet, or did she found him to actually be attracted to her. She didn't want to be the first one to think that he's crushing on her.
"For now, we're just friends, Tay. Let's just see where this actually goes," Eleanor says.
"Well, you know what they say. That everything starts with friendship," Taylor states.
"Yeah right," Eleanor says. "By the way, Paige just texted me just now."
"Oh, what did she say?" Taylor asks in a casual tone.
"She wanted to talk about Tim's change of behaviour," Eleanor says. "Well, Paige was surprised that he didn't flirt with any girls today."
Hearing this, Taylor felt awkward all of a sudden as the thought of Tim's confession starts surfacing back in her head. Being the one who knew well the reasons of his changed behaviour made her feel rather awkward. She thought that she might needed to visit Tim sometimes. Who knows, maybe they could talk and not feel awkward after. A better chance, maybe they could reconcile their complex relationship and actually be good friends. For now, she just wants to be his friend.
9 PM...
At Tim's house...
Tim is chilling with a bottle of beer as he plays some relaxing jazz music on his speakers. Though his friends known him as the hype boy with a passion for EDM, that's only an image that most people see in public. During his private time, Tim values some alone time with some smoooth jazz music, and of course a bottle of beer to relieve his stress.
As the boy with blond hair continues to enjoy his alone time chilling on the couch, he heard a knock coming from his front door. He wanted to believe his mom or dad had finally found the thought in themselves to visit their only child, but he almost lose that hope since he was 14.
Tim gets up from his couch and walks over to get the door, with the bottle of beer still in his left hand. Opening the door, he sees a guy with golden brown hair standing in front of his door, looking sad and exhausted.
"Sorry to bother you," says the guy.
