“I know!” Val replied with a huff. “But the littoral frigates are firing AM rays at us. We have taken cover in the polycarbonate bunkers, the only things that can repel Disintegra attacks.” Maverick slumped in his seat. “I see. So, the enemy’s landfall is inevitable. Our only chance will arrive when their soldiers engage with you. The LCFs won’t be able to fire AM rays, or they would risk killing their own people.” “I am counting on that, Mav!” Soon enough, fifty Monolith motorboats landed on the shore, and armored soldiers clambered onto the sand like ants. However, they carried only two men per boat, bringing their total number to a hundred. The AM ray attacks stopped abruptly. “Are they crazy or foolish?” Val asked aloud. “We have at least eight hundred boots on the shore. The terrorists sent only about a hundred! Now that the Disintegra attacks are paused, we will decimate them!” Valeria ordered her team to roll out the howitzers, which began pelting cannons at the enemy. Boom! Boom! However, the soldiers appeared unperturbed by the incoming attacks. “I have a weird feeling about this,” Maverick said anxiously over the radio. “Why are they so fearless against howitzers?” Val scoffed. “Don’t worry, Mav. They are dumb terrorists. They’ll be all dead in minutes!” Then something strange happened. As the cannons landed near the soldiers, they became hyperactive. Like superhuman trapeze artists, they jumped out of harm’s way, leaping over eight feet high and twelve feet forward at a time. Like feral animals on psycho-steroids, they sped towards the green bunkers. “What the fuck are they?” Val barked. “How can a human being be fast enough to dodge a howitzer cannon’s range after it landed?” Maverick’s drone hovered over the shore, catching the action with a bird's-eye view. “Watch out, Val! They aren’t ordinary soldiers! They look like super soldiers!” “Screw them! Fire at will!” Valeria commanded. The NWO troops rained howitzer and rifle fire on the rampaging terrorists. However, they had such phenomenal agility that not even one hit landed. “Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” Valeria cursed. She was operating an entire howitzer by herself. “They’ve reached the second line of defense! We are engaging them in combat right now!” Within minutes, the green bunkers were overrun. The super soldiers passed through the NWO agents like a hot knife through butter. The latter were helpless against their monstrous strength and alarming speed. Val abandoned her howitzer and raced into the fight. A super soldier ran at her, brandishing a serrated knife. Woom! Zip! He sliced at her relentlessly. Val had great agility but was barely keeping up with the enemy. Crack! She knocked the knife away from his hand, fracturing his wrist. However, the super soldier barely noticed the injury and continued attacking. It’s as if he didn’t feel pain. With a nimble flip, Val went behind him and put him in a headlock. With brute force, she rotated his head 180 degrees. The man fell down dead. However, the five-star general was gasping for breath. Only one super soldier had drained her energy enough to bring exhaustion. There were ninety-nine more! “Val! You need to retreat to the third line of defense!” Maverick shouted over the radio. “You can’t fight them all by yourself!” “No way!” Valeria fired back. “I promised Caesar I would hold the line! I won’t let these fuckers through, no matter what!” Val engaged two more super soldiers and managed to kill them in a few minutes. At this juncture, her eyes drooped, and her limbs burned. If Val forced herself to fight any longer, she would lose consciousness. Ahead of her lay a graveyard of NWO agents, men, and women she knew and trained. They were all massacred by evil super soldiers. How easily did Monolith humble the mighty NWO! However, Val determined she wouldn’t run. She was a five-star general of Caesar, the most powerful entity in the world. A bunch of zombie soldiers shouldn’t be a bother to her. “Please don’t do it!” Maverick pleaded. “Retreat now, or you’ll die!” “I had many romantic dates with death in the past, Mav,” the woman said with a bitter smirk. “Today is the day I get to fuck death!” Valeria Armstrong balled her mighty fists with a hoarse battle cry, gritted her teeth, and readied herself to run into the crowd of bloodthirsty super soldiers. “You don’t get to die without my permission,” a familiar voice interjected over the group radio. Valeria stopped in her tracks and spun in surprise to look behind her. A Greyhound armored car sped into her view and swiveled towards her. The door slammed open, and Victor stepped out effortlessly before the vehicle stopped. “You’ve done well so far, Val,” he said in a chivalrous tone. “Pass me the baton. It’s our time to fight back!”
