ISLA'S POINT OF VIEW As I slowly opened her eyes, I felt a wave of pain wash over me. I groaned softly and shifted in my bed, trying to find a comfortable position. That's when I noticed the colorful bouquet and basket of fruits on my bedside table. Confused, I glanced around the room, trying to figure out where they came from. That's when I spotted the small note attached to the flowers. With trembling fingers, I reached out and picked it up, reading the elegant script. "Get well soon, Isla. I hope these flowers and fruits will brighten up your day. -Dr. Colin" A warmth spread through my chest, and I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes. I couldn't believe that Dr. Colin, the son of the doctor who had been attending to me, had taken the time to do something so thoughtful and kind. Feeling deeply touched, I held the note to my chest and closed my eyes, feeling a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude towards him. I couldn't remember the last time someone had been so considerate and caring toward me. As I lay there, staring at the flowers and fruits, I felt a sudden urge to get better as soon as possible, not just for my own sake, but for Dr. Colin's too. I wanted to thank him personally for his kindness and show him that I was doing better. I am at the hospital, and Max came here early in the morning. "Isla," she greeted me happily. "You look so happy, any news from your book?" I ask. "I have a piece of great news, Isla. A publisher contacted me and I am so happy, we had a meeting yesterday and she's pursuing me to write another romance book," "AHHH! I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU, MAX! You're the next best-selling author in New York," I said, smiling at her. "You think so?" she asks looking shy. "Of course, you can. you're max. you can do anything," I hype her up. "You're just like your cousin, Iris. Very supportive in everything I do," she smiled looking at me. I smiled back at Max, feeling happy about her success. "Iris is an amazing person, so it's a compliment to be compared to her," I said. Max nodded in agreement. "She is. She's been a great support to me too. But so have you, Isla. I couldn't have done this without your encouragement and support." I felt a warm feeling in my chest at her words. "I'm always here for you, Max. You know that." We chatted for a while longer, discussing her plans for the new book and how she wanted to approach the writing process. I loved hearing about her creative ideas and the passion she had for her craft. As we talked, I couldn't help but think about how lucky I was to have such wonderful friends in my life. Max, Iris, and even Dr. Colin - had all been so supportive and kind to me during my time in the hospital. I knew that recovery wouldn't be easy, but having them by my side made it feel a little less daunting. And with Max's exciting news, I felt a surge of positivity and hope for the future. I smiled, feeling proud of my friend Max. She had been working hard on her writing for years, and it was finally paying off. As we chatted about her new book deal, my mind wandered to the beautiful display of fruits and flowers on my bedside table. "Max, something really sweet happened this morning," I said, gesturing to the arrangement. "Doctor Colin brought these to me with a note wishing me a speedy recovery." Max's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh my goodness, Isla, that's so thoughtful of him! He's such a gentleman." I couldn't agree more. He had always been kind and caring toward me. But this gesture was something special. It made me feel so appreciated and touched that he would take the time to bring me these gifts. "I know, I feel so grateful for his kindness," I said, feeling a warm flush spread across my cheeks. Max grinned. "Looks like Doctor Colin has a bit of a crush on you, Isla." I couldn't help but laugh at that. "Maybe, but either way, I appreciate him so much for being such a kind and caring doctor. He's a true gem." It was true, Dr. Colin had been a constant source of support and encouragement during my time at the hospital. He had always taken the time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions with patience and understanding. *** As I lay in my hospital bed, I felt a familiar sense of restlessness starts to creep in. I had been in the hospital for what felt like ages, and I was starting to feel antsy and impatient. I couldn't wait to get back to my normal life and be free from constant monitoring and medications. Just as I was starting to feel particularly frustrated, there was a soft knock on my door. My heart skipped a beat as she recognized the sound of Dr. Colin's voice. "Good evening, Isla," he greeted me warmly, stepping into the room. "I thought I'd come by before my shift ends to see how you're doing." My heart swelled with gratitude as I looked up at him. I couldn't believe how kind and attentive he was, always going out of his way to make me feel better. "I'm doing okay, thank you," I replied, feeling a sense of calm wash over me as I looked into his warm brown eyes. Dr. Colin walked over to my bed and started checking my vitals, chatting with me about how my day had been and what I was looking forward to once I got out of the hospital. As he worked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and safety in his presence. He had a way of making me feel like she was the only patient in the world, even though I knew he had many others to attend to. As he finished up and prepared to leave, I felt a pang of sadness. I didn't want him to go, I wanted to keep talking to him, to bask in his calming presence. "Thank you for stopping by, Dr. Colin," I said softly, looking up at him with a small smile. "It was my pleasure, Isla," he replied, returning her smile. "I'll be back to check on you tomorrow morning since Dad, your doctor, will arrive tomorrow evening." "He wanted me to check on you, and I would love to do this. I want you to get well sooner Isla," he smiled and I nodded, feeling a sense of anticipation rise in my chest. I couldn't wait to see him again, to feel his kind touch and hear his soothing voice.
