IRIS'S POINT OF VIEW I looked around the room as I helped my mom gather the necessary items for Lily's check-up. The bright sunlight shone through the window, casting a warm glow on the colorful toys scattered across the room. The walls were painted in a soft, soothing shade of lavender, and the room was filled with the sweet scent of lavender-scented candles that Iris's mom had lit earlier. My mom was busy laying out Lily's clothes on the bed, making sure that everything was neat and organized. I looked at my mom and felt a sense of admiration. My mom always knew how to take care of Lily, her granddaughter, and make sure that everything was perfect for her. As we continued to prepare for the appointment, Mom began to pack the diaper bag with Lily's essentials - extra clothes, diapers, wipes, and formula. I helped by double-checking the contents and making sure that everything was in order. Once we were done, Mom picked up Lily. Lily laughed softly, and I smiled at the sound. I was always fascinated by how innocent and pure Lily looked, with her big, curious eyes and tiny hands. As we made our way to the car, I felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. I knew that Lily's check-up was an important milestone in her development, and I was eager to see how much she had grown and changed since her last visit. In the car, I sat in the back seat next to Lily, watching her play with her favorite toy. We arrived at the hospital for Lily's check-up. As we entered the lobby, we were immediately met with a sea of people - patients, visitors, and hospital staff bustling around. Despite the crowded space, I felt relieved that we had set an appointment earlier and didn't have to wait in line. As we made our way to the reception desk, I couldn't help but glance around the room, taking in the sights and sounds of the busy hospital. She saw doctors rushing around with clipboards, nurses wheeling patients on gurneys, and families sitting anxiously in waiting areas. We went to her doctor's clinic, but as we were about to enter, the name written at the door, made me freeze. I back down immediately, "Mom, I forgot something in the car, go ahead. I'll wait for sure outside," I said, as I hurriedly went out of the room. As I stepped outside the clinic, I leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths and trying to calm myself down. The name on the door triggered a flood of memories and emotions that I wasn't prepared to deal with. I closed my eyes and tried to focus on my breathing, but my mind kept racing. I thought about Lily, my daughter, who was waiting for me inside, and how important it was for her to get her vaccine. Felix was Lily's new pediatrician. I wonder why my mom didn't mention that name before, I knew she know that my ex's name was Felix, and is a doctor. It's obvious mom didn't know it was my ex because I deleted all our photos on social media before she saw it. I took another deep breath and tried to shake off the memories. I couldn't let my past affect my daughter's present. I knew I had to be strong for Lily and put aside any personal feelings toward Felix. I looked around and saw a park across the street. I decided to distract myself by taking a walk and enjoying the fresh air. As I strolled through the park, I took in the sights and sounds of nature around me. The rustling leaves, the chirping birds, and the distant laughter of children playing in the playground. As I walked, I also thought about how far I had come since my breakup with Felix. It was a painful experience, but I learned to move on and focus on what was important in my life. And right now, that was being there for Lily and supporting her through her check-up. After a few minutes, I saw my mom and Lily walking out of the clinic. My mom smiled and waved at me, signaling that everything went well. I smiled back and felt a wave of relief wash over me. I was proud of myself for pushing through my emotions and being there for my daughter. "How was it?" I asked, feeling nervous. "What's wrong with you, Iris? I thought you'll join us inside," Mom said, as she put on her seatbelt. "I forgot something in the car," I lied, "How did it go?" "It was alright. Lily cried a little, but she's fine now," I look at my daughter beside me who is now playing with her toys. "Mom, we have to talk later," I said sternly. Mom look and ask if I was alright and I just nodded. My heart sank as I realized that Felix, the father of my daughter Lily, was now my daughter's pediatrician. I couldn't believe the coincidence of it all, though I know it was possible. How could this be happening? My mind raced with questions and doubts. Would Felix recognize Lily as his daughter? I knew I had to face this situation sooner or later, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. I took a deep breath and tried to push my worries aside. I needed to focus on Lily and her well-being. As I drove home, I couldn't help but wonder how Felix would react if he found out that Lily was his daughter. Would he be angry that I didn't tell him? Would he want to be a part of her life? The thought of confronting him made me feel sick to my stomach. But I knew I couldn't avoid this forever. Lily deserved to know her father, and Felix deserved to know that he had a daughter. It was time to face my fears and take the first step toward a resolution.
