chapter sixty five

"Can we go out?" Max ask me.
"Sorry, Max. Lily and I have to go somewhere tomorrow," I replied.
"with Felix?" she asks.
"Uhh- yes," I said shyly.
"Oh my gosh! Are you guys back together?" she asks excitedly.
"No, oh please, don't even think about that," I said, I was embarrassed thinking about that. I'm not hoping at all. It was all in the past and our main priority now is Lily.
"You can't say that, Iris. Maybe things between you and Felix will come back,"
Max said optimistically.
"I appreciate your positivity, Max, but I don't want to get my hopes up," I replied.
"I understand. But just remember, you never know what the future holds," Max said with a smile.
"I'll keep that in mind," I said, returning her smile.
As I ended the call, I prepared myself to sleep beside Lily.
The next day, Lily and I woke up early to get ready for our trip with Felix. I made sure to pack all the essentials for Lily, including her favorite snacks and toys.
When Felix arrived, Lily ran to him with open arms, giggling and squealing with delight. It warmed my heart to see them so happy together.
We drove to his parent's house to have some lunch, and I am so nervous to face them again, especially with what I'd done to Felix. I'm pretty sure, they're mad and disappointed with me but I'm ready to face it besides it was all my fault all alone.
As we arrived at Felix's parent's house, I took a deep breath and tried to calm my nerves. Felix's parents welcomed us warmly, but I could sense a hint of tension in the air. I greeted them politely and apologized for my mistakes in the past.
"I'm sorry for not telling you about Lily," I said.
"We understand," Felix's mom said, "I hope you can go back to the way you guys were before," she smiled.
"I'm not getting my hopes up, our main priority is Lily as of now,"
"I hope you won't close your door for Felix. I knew he loves you so much, who knows what the future brings," she added and I give her a weak smile.
To my surprise, they were more understanding and forgiving than I thought. They appreciated my honesty and the efforts I made to make things right. It was a relief to have their support and approval, especially for Lily's sake.
"I'm your grandma," she said to Lily and Lily hugged her and giggled. She did the same to her grandpa.
It was heartwarming to see Lily bonding with Felix's parents. It was clear that they loved her as much as Felix did. It made me feel grateful for their acceptance and it also made me realize that forgiveness and understanding can go a long way in healing relationships.
We catch up and enjoyed each other's company. Lily was thrilled to be surrounded by her family, and I could see the happiness on Felix's face as well. It was a bittersweet feeling, knowing that things between us would never be the same, but still cherishing the memories we shared.
After lunch, we went to the park and played with Lily, pushing her on the swings and chasing her around. It felt like old times before everything went wrong between Felix and me. It was a nice break from the usual routine and it was good to be out of the house.
As the day went on, I found myself enjoying Felix's company more and more. He was still the same caring and loving person I fell in love with. It was hard to ignore the feelings that were resurfacing, but I tried my best to push them aside and focus on Lily.
While we were sitting on the grass, Felix asks a stranger if she could take a picture of us three. I felt nervous, it feels like we are a real family, well, in fact, we are but I felt awkward when Felix said that.
"You look so cute, what a happy family," my girl complimented us.
"I'll take a picture of the parents, you look so lovely," she added, smiling at me. Felix comes closer to me and my heart beats a little faster. We smiled at the camera, and thank the girl.
After the photo was taken, we continued to play with Lily, and it was a joyful moment. I couldn't help but feel happy and content with the way things were. It was a reminder that even though things may not have gone as planned, we can still find happiness in the present moment.
As the sun began to set, it was time to head back home. Felix drove us back and I sat in the passenger seat, lost in my thoughts. I couldn't help but think about the possibility of us getting back together, but at the same time, I knew it was too early to tell.
When we arrived home, Felix walked us to the door and hugged Lily tightly, then he looked at me, and I felt a jolt of electricity run through me.
"Thank you for today, Iris. It was nice spending time with you and Lily," he said, looking at me with his warm eyes.
"Thank you, Felix. I had a great time too," I replied, feeling my heart skip a beat.
He leaned in to give me a hug, and I felt myself melting into his embrace. It felt so familiar and so right, but at the same time, I knew it was wrong to feel this way.
As we pulled away, I could see the same conflicted emotions in his eyes. We said our goodbyes and I closed the door, feeling a mix of emotions. Part of me was happy to have spent the day with Felix and to see how much he loved Lily, but another part of me was scared of the possibility of falling in love with him again.
I knew that I needed time to sort out my feelings, but for now, my main focus was on Lily and giving her the best life possible.
