chapter seventy one

DATE NIGHT
I stood nervously in front of the mirror, checking my reflection for what seemed like the hundredth time. Felix had asked me out on a date, and I was both excited and nervous at the same time.
I had spent hours getting ready, carefully choosing my outfit, and doing my hair and makeup. I wanted to look my best for Felix, and I hoped that he would be impressed by my efforts.
As I heard the doorbell ring, my heart began to race. I took a deep breath and made my way to the door, trying to calm my nerves.
As I opened the door, I saw Felix standing there, looking handsome in a suit and tie. He smiled at me, and I felt a sense of warmth wash over me.
"You look beautiful, Iris," he said, taking my hand and leading me to the car.
The car ride was filled with small talk and laughter as we made our way to the restaurant. It was a fancy place, with dim lighting and soft music playing in the background.
As we sat down at our table, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Felix ordered a bottle of wine, and we began to talk about our lives and catch up on everything that had happened since we last saw each other.
As the night wore on, the conversation flowed freely between us. We laughed, we reminisced, and we talked about our hopes and dreams for the future.
As we finished our meal, Felix took my hand and looked into my eyes. "Iris, I know that things between us haven't always been easy, but I want to make it work. I want to be with you again," he said, his voice filled with emotion.
I felt tears welling up in my eyes as I looked at him, feeling a sense of vulnerability and honesty between us. "Felix, I want to be with you too," I said, feeling a sense of relief wash over me.
We sat there, hand in hand, lost in our thoughts and emotions, and it was clear that something had shifted between us. We were on the same page, and we both wanted to make things work.
"I wanted this night to be just the two of us," Felix said, and I nodded at him. "next time, it's the three of us," he smiled and I melted.
"Promise me, Iris, to tell me everything that is in your mind. Promise me you'll be honest, and don't hide anything from me. I'll do my best to be the best partner you'll ever have. I promise you that," he said as he held my hand and kissed it.
"I won't do the same mistake twice, Felix. I lost you once, I can't lose you this time," I said, teary-eyed.
"Don't cry, babe," he chuckled as he wipe my tears.
"I can't help it. I'm just so happy," I said, a smile spreading across my face.
"I'm happy too, Iris," Felix said, smiling back at me. "I can't wait to see what the future holds for us."
We made our way back to the car, hand in hand, and drove back to my house. As we said goodnight, Felix leaned in to kiss me, and I felt a rush of excitement and joy as our lips met.
"Goodnight, Iris. I'll see you soon," he said, before making his way back to his car.
"Wait - do you want to see Lily?" I asked him.
"Oh sure, of course," he chuckled and went with me inside the house.
"Where's your mom?" he asked.
"She went to my aunt. Auntie has been missing Isla so much, and mom wanted to comfort her," I said, as we made our way to Lily's room.
"So who's with Lily now?" Felix asked.
"Max, she's in Lily's room," I smiled at him.
As we opened Lily's room, I found her sleeping while Max was busy on her laptop.
"Sshh," Max said.
I and Felix quietly kissed Lily and went outside the room with Max.
"How's your date, lovebirds?" Max said, teasing us.
I blushed, feeling a little embarrassed, but also happy that Max was happy for us. "It was great, Max. Felix took me to a nice restaurant, and we had a wonderful time together."
"I'm so glad to hear that," Max said, grinning at us. "You two deserve all the happiness in the world."
"Thanks, Max," Felix said, smiling at him.
"So, are you guys official now?" Max asked, raising an eyebrow.
Felix looked at me, and I nodded, feeling a surge of happiness in my chest. "Yes, we are."
"Finally!" Max exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air. "I've been waiting for this for so long."
We all laughed, feeling a sense of joy and relief that we could finally move forward as a happy, loving family.
Max then suggested that we have a movie night together, and we all agreed. We went to the living room and settled down on the couch, with Lily snuggled between us. As we watched the movie, Felix and I held hands, feeling happy and content.
After the movie ended, we put Lily to bed and went to the balcony, enjoying the cool breeze and the night sky. Felix wrapped his arms around me, and I leaned into him, feeling safe and loved.
"Thank you for tonight, Felix," I said, turning to look at him.
"Thank you for saying yes to a date with me," he replied, smiling at me.
"I'm glad I did. I had a wonderful time," I said, feeling a sense of happiness that I hadn't felt in a long time.
"I promise to make you happy, Iris. I love you," Felix said, looking into my eyes.
"I love you too, Felix," I said, feeling my heart overflowing with love and joy.
As we kissed under the stars, I knew that we had finally found our way back to each other, and nothing could ever tear us apart again.
