chapter seventy six

I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as I heard a knock on the door. I knew it was Max, and I couldn't wait to catch up with her.
As I opened the door, Max's familiar face greeted me with a smile. "Iris! It's so good to see you!" she exclaimed, pulling me into a tight embrace.
"It's great to see you too, Max," I replied, feeling a surge of warmth in my chest. "Come on in."
Max stepped into the apartment, looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings. "Wow, this place is nice," she commented, taking in the modern decor and spacious living room.
I led her to the kitchen, where I had prepared some snacks and drinks. As we sat down at the table, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort in Max's presence. She knew me better than anyone else, and I knew that I could trust her with anything.
"How are you?" I ask.
"I'm doing great. Lance has already made the book cover of my book, and I really liked it," she said, smiling at me.
"Are things between you and lance doing great?" I ask her.
"We're just good friends, Iris, in fact, he even told me he wanted to date again and I support him," she said, as she sip on the juice I made.
"It's okay for you?"
"Of course, Iris. I moved on a long time ago, and it's nice being just friends with Lance. I hope he finds someone who's really meant for him," she smiled sincerely.
"How about you, Max? Are you ready to date again?" I ask her, cautiously.
"Actually, yes. I'm ready to date again, but there's no one to date," she chuckled.
I laughed along with her. "Well, there is plenty of fish in the sea," I said, trying to be encouraging.
Max nodded, taking another sip of her juice. "I know, but don't worry i'm not in a rush." she smiled at me.
"How are you and Red?" I ask her as I remembered what Red told me the last time we saw each other.
"Oh, that guy! I think he forgot about me already," she chuckled.
"Why do you think so?" I said with a furrowed brow.
"He's so busy, he doesn't contact me anymore," she said, sadly.
They've gotten so close and I can feel her sadness when Red has been drifting slowly from her.
"I'm sorry to hear that, Max," I said sympathetically. "Have you tried reaching out to him?"
Max shook her head. "I don't want to bother him if he's busy with work. And besides, I don't want to come across as needy."
I understood where Max was coming from, but I also knew that communication was key in any relationship. "Maybe you could send him a message or give him a call just to check in and see how he's doing. It doesn't have to be a long conversation, but at least he'll know that you're thinking of him."
Max nodded thoughtfully. "You're right. I'll do that."
We chatted for a while longer, catching up on each other's lives and sharing funny stories. As Max got up to leave, I gave her another hug.
"Thanks for coming over, Max. It was really great to see you," I said, feeling grateful for our friendship.
"Likewise, Iris. Let's not wait so long to catch up next time," Max replied, smiling.
As she walked out the door, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. Despite the ups and downs of life, having good friends like Max made everything feel a little bit easier.
I just hoped Max would know red feelings toward her soon.
As I picked Lily up from school, Felix came home also.
"You're early. Are you going somewhere?" I ask him
"We'll be recording the song with Red today, you want to join us? How about my baby? Lily, would you like to come with daddy?" he bent down, to hug lily.
"Yes, daddy!" Lily exclaimed. The next thing I know we were already in the car, driving to the studio. I wonder if Max would want to come with us, so I message her.
"I'm sorry, I have a meeting with a publisher today," she replied, but I feel like she wanted to come as well. Or is she avoiding Red also? but I doubt that. I shrugged off the thoughts in my mind.
As we arrived at the studio, Red greeted us with a big smile. "Hey guys, good to see you," he said, hugging Felix and ruffling Lily's hair.
"Hey Red, ready to record?" Felix asked, grinning.
"Absolutely. Let's get started," Red replied, leading us to the recording room.
As Felix and Red set up their equipment, Lily sat in a corner, playing with her toys. I sat down on a chair, watching them with interest. I've always been amazed by their talent and passion for music.
After a few minutes of preparation, they began to play. Felix started singing first, his voice deep and resonant. Red joined in, adding harmonies and guitar riffs. Their voices blended together perfectly, creating a beautiful melody that filled the room.
I closed my eyes and let the music wash over me. It was like a balm for my soul, soothing and uplifting at the same time. I felt grateful to be a part of this moment, to witness the magic of music being created right in front of me.
As they finished the song, I clapped my hands, smiling. "That was amazing, guys! You're getting better and better."
Felix and Red grinned at me, looking pleased with themselves. "Thanks, Iris. It's all thanks to Red's expertise," Felix said, giving Red a pat on the back.
Red shrugged modestly. "I just do what I can to help. Felix is the real talent here."
I laughed, shaking my head. "You guys are both amazing. I can't wait to hear this on the radio."
After a few more hours of recording and mixing, they finally called it a day. As we packed up our things, Red turned to me.
"Hey Iris, do you want to grab a drink with me and Felix?"
"I can't, Lily is here," I said, smiling at Red.
The day after the recording session with Felix and Red, I decided to go for a walk in the park with Lily. The sun was shining, and the breeze was refreshing. I let Red and Felix drink together down the road.
