CHAPTER 2

THE PURSUIT OF AN UNKNOWN INDIVIDUAL

After the funeral, she begged her boss to let her work online, and her boss agreed since she has been with the company for ten years and she can do the job even online. Now she will go to the place where the address was written on the back of the photo.

She was ready to go. She closed all the windows and doors of the house and locked it. She got into her car, and before starting it, she called James.

"Babe, where are you? Shall I pass you by?"
"Babe, I was about to go there earlier, and suddenly our boss called me."

The computers in the office were all defective; I'm sorry if they won't come to you right now.

"Let me know when you get there, and I will let you know when I finish everything, and I will come to you and follow!"

"It's okay, I will let you know, babe, be careful!"

"Alright baby."

She called her friends through a video call and said a fond farewell, informing them that she was going to the place written on the back of the photo. It was already noon when she started to leave because she didn't know the place; she just used Google Maps, an application on her Android phone that would show her the right way, and her GPS location must be open.
"Hayss, it looks like I'm going through this right."
"Well, I checked the odometer."
"Just a little gas left!"
"I hope I can still reach the gas station."

It was fifteen minutes before she arrived at the gas station, and she had a full tank.

She was halfway to her destination, and she felt nauseous and sleepy. It's getting dark, and she still hasn't arrived. She felt hungry and stopped at the Drive-thru to order food. She parked first, and after ordering, she ate there in the car, and before she left, she rested for about fifteen minutes. She played music and sang along.

"I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment that you wander far from me
I want to feel you in my arms again
And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love, then you gently leave
and it's me you need to show.
How deep is your love? How..."
Suddenly, she heard something strange. She stopped singing and listened to the song carefully to see if there was anything different or if it was just part of the song she heard. But she never heard a woman's voice that sounded creepy. She didn't mind that anymore and thought of leaving the Drive-thru.

"Hey, what time will it take me to get there? I'm super excited!" she exclaimed while driving.

"Opppss…    black cat, why is it crossing? Almost there!"

She stopped and put her car aside.

"Hey! I was really nervous about that!"

"Keep driving! Just chill, Amanda; you'll get there," she said to herself.

"It looks like this is the place because it's on the Google map."

She first stopped at a place and noticed that the houses were quite far apart. She looked at the address and house number before getting out of the car. She called James, but he did not answer, and she just messaged that she had arrived and was about to get out of the car and go to the house.

She opened the car window, took a photo, and sent it to her boyfriend and her friends in their group chat. She got out of the car and took her cell phone first. Her cell phone rang, and she looked at the message from her friends.

"The house is big, and the area around it is vast with trees," Lara said.

"Isn't there a house next door?" asked Jason.

She replied and told them to talk later once she found out. She rang the doorbell, but there was still no one there, and suddenly she turned to her back and saw a black cat whose voice seemed to bite, and she was a bit nervous even though there were street lights on the way, but it was very quiet around her. She just looked at the cat, and it left, and she turned around when suddenly, someone spoke behind her. It was a white woman with long black hair, and she was wearing a long black dress that reached to her feet. She was estimated to be in her fifties.

"What do you need?"

"Good evening, and I'm Amanda, Kayla Lawson's daughter." I just want to ask you something if you know her, and I'm going to show you a photo. She wrote the address of your house on the back of the photo.

"Are you siblings?"

"Yes, we are siblings."

"I would like to inform you that she died two weeks ago."

"Get inside the house first."

"Alright, can I park my car first inside your gate if you agree?"

"Alright," she responded sparingly.

She felt nervous that she couldn't express her feelings, so she got out of the car and parked.

"Do you have any things?" asked the woman.

"Yes, just a small suitcase, Auntie."

"Take it first and put it inside; then follow me."

"Okay auntie."

After taking it, she entered slowly, and a cold wind passed through her, making her bristles stand up.

"Come in and don't be shy; sit down and I'll make you some coffee first."

"Okay, thanks, auntie."

While she was sitting, she first looked around the house, which was wide and a bit old-fashioned.

"Here, coffee for you!"

When she drank the coffee, it tasted different, like it wasn't coffee, but she drank it and it was quite sweet.

"Dear! That picture is me, and I'm happy to meet you. I'm Shaira, 53 years old, and I'm alone at home. I don't have anyone with me. If you want, you can live here in my house; it's quite big, right?"

"Alright, I will try, and I don't have anyone at our house either; maybe there will be a time when I will also come home to my hometown."

"Come join me in your room so you can rest."

"I'm sure you're dizzy from the long travel."

"It's quite a bit dizzy."

"Feel at home, dear!"

Amanda followed her Auntie Shaira, and they went up to the second floor, and she could see that there were six more rooms, and there were also rooms downstairs.

"Dear! This will be your room, and if you need anything, knock on my door. "It is downstairs in the first room near the main door, okay?" She said this while smiling.

"Amanda, you just feel at home," her aunt added.

"Okay, Auntie, and goodnight."
"Let's talk tomorrow, and I'm sure you're very tired." She entered her room and wondered why there were so many rooms and her Auntie Shaira was alone. Before she went to sleep, she replied to her friends and boyfriend.

"No worries, guys." "Auntie seems nice, and her name is Shaira."

"Let's talk tomorrow; I'm really tired from the travel."

"Be careful there!"

"Babe, I'm really going to see you once I finish everything. I love you, baby!" message from her boyfriend James.

"I love you too, babe, good night!"
