Chapter 12 Envious of Her

Hwon Kingdom is the strongest kingdom on the Mirac Planet and has the power of the fire elementals. However, in recent years, the fire powers appear to have become stronger, making the climate more hotter. The fire power that they can employ to their advantage feels like it is working against them because rain has been scarce in the kingdom for nearly five years. It causes the kingdom's water supply to diminish year after year, making it difficult for the inhabitants to maintain their fields to support their lives. Even if it does not have a significant impact on the aristocratic family, it causes a life crisis for the lower society.
Some people assumed that everything happened because the king who can control the fire elemental is no longer in the kingdom, and has been replaced by the queen who does not have the capacity to control the fire elemental. Many people are speaking negatively about this, which has put the queen in a bind. They did everything to make it rain, but they kept failing. As a result, it has become a significant burden on the kingdom.
Another group believed that their kingdom was cursed since the queen chose the king from the werewolf race, who is a descendant of the damned bloodline. The legendary werewolf who was their adversary. They held the king responsible for everything bad that happened in their land. That is why, even while the king and queen continue to try to help their people live properly, animosity directed towards the royal family cannot be unavoidable.
Gwi and Siera have been attempting to persuade the noble family to share their fortune in order to assist the lower society so that no one dies of starvation. Although some of them are eager to give their wealth in order to benefit the country, the majority of nobles are hesitant to join them due to their personal anxiety. They are concerned that this will continue and that they will require additional preparation to continue living normally.
"I heard that people from Daekrahm Village attacked and robbed a noble family again," one of the ministry members says, referring to recent events in the kingdom. Two ministries are heading down the palace's corridor, chatting about their concerns.
"Again? These climate changes have had the greatest impact on Daekrahm Village. They rely solely on their farmland to survive. This drought has certainly become a major inconvenience for that poor village," the other responds.
Daekrahm Village is located on the northern boundaries of the Hwon Kingdom. The village is extremely remote from the capital. It is dominated by farmers and has become one of the Hwon Kingdom's agricultural support sectors. When they can't rely on their crops to survive, their people have gone starving in recent years. It caused widespread disease and death throughout the village. They felt as if they were suffering alone, with no help from the kingdom. Their frustration drives them to act rashly and to use whatever means possible to stay alive.
"I've also heard that Duke Slahthar has left the village because he is unable to deal with the conflict there."
A woman walking down the corridor overhears the exchange between the two ministers. Lyn was on her way back to her room with a clothes basket when she overheard the problem. She hides behind the wall to keep the ministers from noticing her presence. Her expression is incomprehensible. She continues her journey once she is certain that the two men have left.
When the female werewolf was walking through the garden, she noticed a tall and gorgeous man conversing with a soldier. Her face brightened up when she noticed the man. She rushes toward the man with light steps and a gorgeous smile on her face.
"Your Majesty!" She happily greets the king and attracts the attention of the two men present.
"Good day, Lyn. What are you going to do with that basket?" Gwi inquires, his deep voice catching anyone's attention and making them sink in his attractiveness. Lyn isn't sure why, but hearing the king mention her name so affectionately in his rich voice makes the woman blush.
"I'm bored because I'm not doing anything. So I ask the head servant if there is anything I can do here," explains the female werewolf. She appears modest and pure, speaking with a cheery voice and a crimson cheek.
"You do? But you don't have to do anything. Don't you need to rest to fully recover?"
Lyn smiles meaningfully when she realizes Gwi is concerned about her well-being. It feels both new and familiar.
"Would you then like to accompany me as I walk around so I don't get bored, your Majesty?" She makes a request with a hopeful grin on her face.
"Right now?"Gwi reciprocates. Lyn immediately nods, her face lit up with excitement.
After lunch with the queen, the monarch will hold a meeting with the ministers at midday. He has at least an hour free to accompany the lady. He immediately dismisses the soldier and agrees to stroll with her, giving Lyn the impression that she is floating in the skies.
Gwi walks quietly, a heavy burden on his thoughts. He is deeply concerned about the current state of the kingdom. His attractive face is frowning and his look is serious. Lyn notices the king's expression as she walks with a broad smile on her face. Her smile has faded, and her expression is concerned.
"Is it really possible, though, to become a human king? I know they still won't acknowledge us as werewolves, let alone let us lead them." The female werewolf expresses her disappointment. Her question caught him off guard. True, the things that keep bothering him are the rejections he continues to receive from the Hwon Kingdom, which refuses to recognize his race entirely. But that isn't the only thing that troubles him.
"It is, nonetheless, true. But I share Siera's burden, and together we can deal with it," Gwi says grimly.
Lyn is silent when the king unexpectedly mentions the queen's name. When he talks about the queen, he always has a tender look in his eyes.
"It appears that you have a strong affection for the queen," the female werewolf says gently.
   "Yeah..." says the king.
"It would be nice if Lyn received the same love that you do for the queen. I'm envious of her."
Gwi falls silent as a result of her words. He is well aware of how tough it is to be loved as a werewolf. He can sympathize with her, so he gently taps her shoulder to comfort her.
"I'm sure there will be someone who loves you one day," he assures her.
Lyn lifts her chin and looks at the king, their height disparities forcing her to look up just to see his face. She believes his word is genuine. It made her heart warm. How she wishes he would always treat her with such tenderness.
The queen, on the other hand, had just returned from coordinating kingdom duties when she noticed Gwi in the garden. She is going to approach him when she notices he is not alone. Gwi is taping Lyn's shoulder while the young woman looks at him with a gaze that doesn't seem usual for Siera. Lyn's face is flushed. She is curious as to what they are discussing.
"Wouldn't you greet the king, your Majesty?" Siera's personal servant inquires. She is certain that the queen is about to go towards him when she abruptly comes to a halt and stops. She notices an uneasy expression on the queen's face.
"No, we'd meet at lunch anyway," the queen responded before returning to her own path without revealing her opposition to her husband.
Before following the queen discreetly, the servant returns her gaze to the garden to check on the king and Lyn.
