Chapter 13 A Part of Him Only for Her

Lyn has been at the palace for a month now. Gwi has frequently visited Lyn since that time in order to make the woman feel less lonely in the unfamiliar surroundings. They sometimes walk at the palace garden together, or even visit each other's room while talking privately about their past time when they still live peacefully on their pack. In his spare time, Gwi teaches Lyn how to write and read.
Aside from their lunch hours together, the king's new schedule prevents him from spending much time with the queen. Since the conflict between Siera and Lyn, Gwi has never brought the female werewolf to eat with Siera. He is well aware that despite he want to make Lyn feel comfortable at the palace, his wife doesn't like her. Siera has a naturally cold attitude and never tries to hide it when she dislikes someone. He doesn't want to make things difficult between them by urging the queen to welcome Lyn with an open hand, despite the fact that she is like family to him.
"How is she doing? Is she familiar with the palace yet?" Siera inquires of her spouse at their morning meal.
Gwi's hand which holding a spoon and about to put the meal into his mouth pause on the mid air when the queen abruptly talking. Despite the fact that she does not directly say Lyn's name, Gwi understands who she refers to as 'her'.
"Why are you suddenly inquiring about her?" In front of Siera, the king constantly attempted to avoid discussing the female werewolf. So it caught him off guard when the queen became the one who brought up the subject of her.
"Well, I heard you've been offering your time to help her become acquainted with her surroundings. All I want to know is how things are going." Siera focused her attention on her food rather than the king. Her demeanor gives the appearance to the king that she is attempting to avoid him, which makes the king feel bad.
"I'm sorry I didn't spend enough time with you, my queen; I'd try to make time for you as well." Gwi has a deep, soft voice.
Siera raised her head as she listened to his words. Gwi looks at her with a warm and affectionate gaze, as he always does. His fondness for her never alter; they somehow put her at peace and alleviate her anxieties.
"I know you're busy, Gwi, and she's your guest. I don't want to add to your load by forcing you to give me your time when you already have so many things on your plate; the matter of Daekrahm Village has become a major concern for us," the queen tries to be empathetic and doesn't want to demand more from him.
Gwi took a deep breath as the matter with Daekrahm Village continued to worry him out. He has been sending soldiers to the northern border and food aid to the village to prevent starvation, but he has heard that muggers rob the food aid at night and remove all aid without distributing it. It put a lot of pressure on the king.
"I ask that our people investigate who the muggers are, but there is a strong possibility that the muggers are Daekrahm Village's people themselves. They operate in large organizations to move about and gather whatever riches they can in order to be self-sufficient. I'm scared they'd do something much worse than these." Gwi expresses his concerns to the queen.
"I believe we should have a proper conversation with the person who led the people there. There must be a leader who can unite them all. We need to know what drives them to choose violence; we need to talk with them heart to heart to understand their needs," Siera says.
"That's true!" Gwi's eyes sparkle with delight since he never thinks about it. Siera has spent her entire life learning how to manage the kingdom. When Gwi meet a death end, she is always full of ideas. Siera smiles as she notices the excitement return to his eyes.
"But we can't send someone with noble status there. Because of their social standing, they may harbor anger toward the aristocratic. They would not trust or listen to someone from a noble family if we sent them. As a result, we need someone from the Farmers' Society to speak with them. Someone who can flawlessly blend in and empathize with their circumstances."
"Alright. I'd be looking for someone who meets that criteria soon." Gwi instantly stands up and decides to finish his lunch.
"Aren't you going to finish your breakfast, Gwi?" Siera has become restless because he appears overly excited, which is unusual for him.
"I can't put off dealing with our people's problem any longer. Thank you for your suggestion, my queen." Gwi approaches Siera and kisses her on the cheek before leaving the table.
Siera shakes her head and smiles, Gwi has changed dramatically. He is not one to make a statement and prefers to remain silent despite the fact that he was once a commander. But becoming king forces him to become the center of attention he never expected, as well as bear a lot of burdens he cannot avoid. Even though he has a soft and loving heart, there are times when he becomes stern in dealing with people, which causes him a lot of stress.
As time passed, he became more serious, yet seeing his exuberant side like this after such a long period seemed really fresh and new. As a result, the queen feels enormous sympathy seeing him gleam with hope and enthusiasm like that. The part of him that he never shows to anyone but her.
