Chapter 15.1: Precognition

Kyle Ethan’s POV
“Where’s the book?” I asked my parents directly when we were the only ones left inside the hall. All of us royals were already here at the palace.
I’m really desperate right now. Earlier, Nicole suddenly had a headache and gave me a strange look. I had a feeling that we experienced something similar, so I became more anxious and confused.
When she lost consciousness, I immediately laid her down on the bed. Even though her eyes were closed, her face still showed surprise and confusion.
I didn’t want to leave her in that kind of situation, but I also needed to do it to clarify everything.
“What book?” my dad innocently asked.
“The book where the prophecy was written,” I calmly said, even though I really wanted to get my hands on it.
“Oh. Why are you looking for that book? I recall that you weren’t interested in it,” Mom asked, confused.
I smirked. “Don’t bother asking why. Because even if I don't tell you, you already know what’s happening,” I said sarcastically.
Dad glared at me. “Don’t you dare talk to us like that, Kyle. We’re still your parents, so you should respect us.”
I looked down as Dad’s voice slightly raised. I didn’t want to talk to them like that, but I was really getting annoyed.
“I’m sorry, but can you just give me the book? I just need to know and confirm something,” I pleaded. If I have to kneel in front of them just to get what I’m asking for, I would do it.
“No. You can’t have it for now. But don’t worry, son. Because you only need to wait a few hours, and we will be the ones to tell you what you need to know.”
I shook my head. I knew it, they knew something.
“But why do I have to wait for a few hours if you can tell me now? I’m really confused!” I couldn’t help but shout.
Mom approached me and tightly held both of my hands. “There is a reason for everything that’s happening now, son. All you need to do is wait for when it will be revealed. Is that so difficult to do? Don’t you trust us?”
Guilt consumed me as I saw her saddened face.
I was about to respond when suddenly I felt drowsy. My eyes widened as I realized that Mom had used her powers on me. Why did I forget? I shouldn’t have let her touch me!
“W-why...” I looked at Dad who was now approaching us.
“I’m sorry, son. But now is the right time for you to rest and prepare for the return of your powers later. We’re only doing this for you. Soon, the real you will return.”
I was confused, shifting my gaze between the two of them. “What—”
I couldn’t finish my sentence because the surroundings suddenly turned dark.

Kira’s POV
“I wonder what they’re talking about inside? My brother is so unfair, really,” Miley complained, stomping her feet like a child.
“Relax. Just trust Kyle on this one,” I said with a smile, patting her head as I always do.
I furrowed my brow as she suddenly took a step back and averted her gaze.
“Problem?” I asked, puzzled.
“N-nothing,” she hesitantly replied.
I was about to ask her again, but she immediately turned her back on me. Was she angry because of what I did? Although I often do that to her.
I just shrugged before glancing at the door Kyle had entered earlier. We’re here now in the palace, waiting outside the hall. Kyle wanted to have a private conversation with his parents, so he asked us to wait here for a while.
I leaned against one of the pillars and occupied myself with my thoughts. I couldn’t help but worry about Kyle because he’s been quiet and serious ever since he came from Nicole’s place until we got here.
Did they have an argument after he asked for permission to go here? Or maybe they were still discussing Kyle’s lack of response to her calls and texts?
I sighed. Nicole isn’t shallow. I’m sure she understands.
But what could be my best friend’s problem now? They’re both siblings after all. Miley suddenly gets angry and irritated without an apparent reason.
“Rei! What’s happening to you?”
I lifted my gaze as I suddenly heard them shouting.
Then I saw Reiri sitting on the floor with her eyes closed. We quickly approached her and helped her stand up.
“Rei! Tell me what’s the matter?” Vince asked with concern. He usually doesn’t care about what’s happening around him, but when it comes to his sister, his true emotions come out.
Reiri remained silent, keeping her eyes closed as she held her head with her left hand. She looked like she was concentrating on something.
“I think it will be better if we keep quiet,” I suggested to them. They immediately complied.
I don’t know. But I just have a different feeling.
Several minutes passed before her eyes slowly began to open. Her face looked so bothered and afraid.
“I don’t know when. But she will be in danger. We need to protect her!” she shouted.
We were confused as we stared at her.
“Are you on drugs, Reiri? You’re saying all sorts of things again,” Hiro teased her.
Vince gave him a warning look. His eyes were turning red.
I swear, it’s a bad sign.
In an instant, we saw Hiro fly off the pillar I was leaning on earlier.
“If you don’t have anything good to say about my sister, it’s better for you to just keep quiet.”
Reiri held his arm, while I tapped his shoulder to calm him down. He only gets like this whenever he worries about his sister. But it’s not the time for us to have a commotion.
Hiro bowed his head. “I’m sorry. I’m just trying to ease the tension. I didn’t mean anything bad by that.”
Gradually, Vince’s eyes returned to their normal color. He scratched the back of his neck and nodded. “I’m sorry too.”
I just smiled. One of the beautiful qualities of our group is that we know how to humble ourselves to each other.
He turned his attention back to Reiri, holding both her shoulders. “What do you mean? Who’s in danger?” His voice softened.
Fear returned to Reiri’s eyes. “It’s Nicole. I don’t know why. I just suddenly saw her running out of the palace, crying and being captured by the enemies.” She looked at each of us one by one. “What could that mean? Why did I suddenly see that?”
“We all fell silent. We couldn’t ignore such a vision. If I’m not mistaken...
“It’s a precognition. To be able to see the future is your special ability, Reiri.”
She gasped, and her eyes widened. She seemed to find it hard to believe what I said.
“Is it true, Kira? Has my special ability finally manifested?” she asked, unable to believe it.
The fear and worry on her face earlier were suddenly replaced by joy. She was the only one among the six of us who hadn’t shown or demonstrated any unique abilities yet.
“That’s awesome, Rei! You can see what might happen in the future,” Miley beamed at her. They even high-fived.
“If it really is precognition, I think we should inform Kyle right away. Because, like Reiri said, she doesn’t know when it will happen exactly,” Hiro said, now serious, and we all nodded in agreement.
“Let’s go. I think Uncle Zach and Auntie Cass should know about this too, as our enemies might play a part in what could happen.” Vince opened the door to the hall confidently, and we quickly followed suit.
He confidently opened the door to the hall. But when we entered, we found no one inside.
“Where did they go?” I asked in surprise.
“Wait. I’ll try to communicate with my Brother.”
Miley closed her eyes tightly. We all stared at her, waiting. But her forehead furrowed when she opened her eyes. “He’s not responding.”
We stopped talking and turned our heads to the door simultaneously as we felt someone enter. It was the palace guards.
They approached us. “The king and queen request that we escort you to your respective chambers. They have something important to do with the prince.”
We all exchanged glances, and I knew we were all thinking the same thing. Something was wrong with what was happening, and that’s what we need to find out.
“Okay. But the thing is, we have no intention of going with you, I smirked and nodded at the others.”
