Chapter 25: Student’s Night

Nicole Jane’s POV
I immediately sprawled on my bed and closed my eyes the moment I entered my room. I feel so drained and exhausted.
“Hey, Nicole Jane Parker! Don’t sleep yet!”
Mikan pinched both of my cheeks, but I didn’t budge. My bed feels like heaven that I can just stay here forever and sleep the hell out of it.
I kept my eyes closed until I felt the mattress move. I grinned. It seems that she also got tired of bothering me.
Exam week has just ended. I’ve been in zombie mode for a week because I rarely had any sleep due to reviewing. All of us didn’t even have much time to talk or bond with each other in the past few days.
I was slowly being engulfed by drowsiness when suddenly...
“Will you wake up, or are you going to be deaf?”
I jolted up as I heard her loud and irritating voice. My ears are particularly sensitive to noise right now.
“What the hell? Where did you find that thing?” I glared at her, then at the microphone she’s holding. No wonder my eardrums were almost shattered because she really pointed it directly at my ear.
Before she could respond, Steph suddenly appeared at the door, panting.
“Nicole, what’s happening here?” She quickly approached me to check if I’m okay.
I noticed Mikan furrowing her eyebrows. She seems confused about what Steph is doing.
With that, I gave Steph a warning look. Fortunately, she understood what I wanted to convey and laughed as she moved away from me.
“Sorry. I heard some shouting here, so I thought something was happening,” she explained.
“Oh. Okay. No worries. This is just how Nicole and I show affection.” Mikan smiled at her.
I rolled my eyes and throw myself on the bed again. But I grunted when she continued her rants.
“Nicole, get up! There’s a party at the function hall later, and we need to go,” she shook my shoulder.
“Just leave me alone, Mikan. You can go if you want. Just don’t drag me with you,” I said in a tired and sleepy voice.
A few minutes of silence passed. I was slowly being consumed by drowsiness again when suddenly...
“You’ll go to the party, and that’s final.”
I abruptly opened my eyes. There, I saw Kyle and the other royalties standing in front of our door.
Please, I just want to get some sleep! What’s so hard to understand about that? Just because they don’t necessarily take a sleep means I shouldn’t as well.
“No. I won’t go to the party, and that’s final.”
I buried my face in the pillow and closed my eyes. I wanted to sleep, and nothing would stop me.
Not even them or him.
***
Fine. I know that I won’t win against all of them.
I yawned as I reached for my cocktail drink. I used to go to parties before, but not when I really need to sleep.
But what chance do I have against them alone? If only I could use my abilities against them.
Though of course, I can’t do that. Besides, I still can’t control my abilities right now.
They say the academy holds a student’s night event every year, and it’s mandatory for all students to attend. Last year, Uncle Zach himself came here to lead the party.
But according to Kyle, the king in the palace is too busy, so he won’t be able to come tonight.
I’m thinking of inviting Kyle and the others to visit the palace one of these days. They weren’t there when I woke up. I haven’t seen Mom and Dad either.
I sighed and scanned the crowd with my eyes, searching for Kyle. But he’s still nowhere to be found, even Vince. The other members of the Student Council are busy taking care of the event.
I can’t see them now as royalties. They’re just normal students fulfilling their duties.
Some of the students have started eating, while others are sipping their drinks. But most of them are busy chatting with each other.
I shook my head when I caught sight of some couples making out in the corner. Vampires are indeed wild ones.
Almost everyone here were dressed in expensive clothes and shoes, others were trying to outdo each other so much to the point of vulgarity. It made me want to vomit.
While I’m wearing a simple black balloon dress and 3-inch heels. Mikan is wearing a semi-formal lacy dress, and Steph is wearing a yellow cocktail dress. We all have a light makeup because we don’t intend to look like clowns tonight.
“Hey! You’ve been standing there so long you’re making my feet tired,” Mikan teased Steph.
“I prefer to stand. Thanks anyway,” Steph replied formally.
I just shrugged. Honestly, I’ve been offering her a seat for a while now, but she prefers to stand beside me like a guard ready to defend me against anyone who intends to attack me.
Mikan shrugged before redirecting her attention to Kira, who was currently talking to someone next to the stage. Her eyes suddenly grew sad.
I’ve noticed this before, but I haven’t had the time to ask or talk to her about it. Besides, I’ve been busy these past few days, and I’m not updated on what’s happening to them anymore.
I was about to call her when my attention shifted to the two wooden doors as I heard them open. Seconds passed, and the figure of the man that I’m looking for finally comes out.
Almost everyone here focused their attention on him, especially the girls.
Everything seemed to slow down. Our eyes locked the moment he noticed mine. He started walking slowly towards me, wearing his charming smile. In an instant, it felt like we were the only ones here, and everything else around us disappeared. I was so captivated by those brown eyes that I could stare at them forever.
I continued to gaze at him as he approached me. I wanted to speak, but I couldn’t find the words to say. There was even a hint of amusement in his eyes. I saw his mouth open to speak, but I couldn’t hear anything. I just kept staring at him, memorizing every part of his face. How I wished I could caress it right now.
I snapped out of my thoughts when someone suddenly slapped my arm. I gave Mikan a glare, but she just smirked at me.
“You’re totally whipped, my friend. Kyle has been talking to you for a while, but you’re daydreaming.” She giggled.
I felt my cheeks heat up because of what she said.
Kyle chuckled, which made me hit his arm.
“What are you laughing at?” I asked as I raised an eyebrow.
He laughed and pointed to the side of my lips. “You have drool there.”
My eyes widened. I was about to speak when a familiar song suddenly played.
“Can I have this dance?” Kyle asked hopefully, with a sweet smile.
I blinked a few times before accepting his extended hand.
“Sure.” I stood up and smiled at his gesture, as if I were something fragile that he needed to take care of.
The moment we reached the dance floor, he placed my hands on his shoulder and possessively grabbed my waist as we began to dance.
“Hello there, gorgeous,” he grinned, and I just pouted.
“Oh, please, don’t be like that. Or else I’ll kiss you.”
I frowned at what he said. “You’re such a pervert, Kyle.”
He furrowed his brow. “No, I’m not. Is there something wrong if I want to kiss my girlfriend?”
“Yeah, there’s definitely nothing wrong with that. But not here,” I answered out of the blue.
I mentally slapped myself. It was too late to take back what I said. I’m sure he’s already thinking something else about it.
An evil smile formed on his lips. This is exactly what I meant.
“Then please tell me where the appropriate place to do it. I’ll be more than willing to come with you.” He winked.
Due to extreme irritation, I stepped on his foot. That scene caught the attention of almost half of the student body. Some girls even sent me deadly glares, and I could hear others gasping.
But as if I give a damn.
“I was such a battered boyfriend to you. But you look cute whenever your face gets all irritated and red,” he teased.
I let go of his shoulder and was about to leave when he quickly grabbed my arm.
“Hey. Sorry. Can’t we just enjoy the night?” He looked at me with those pleading eyes.
I sighed in defeat. “Fine. Sorry too. It’s your fault anyway.”
He kissed my forehead, and I just closed my eyes.
“Feeling better?” he asked with a smile.
I nodded before snuggling against his chest. I could hear his heart beating loudly and quickly. How I love this moment. I hope we can always be like this.
He hugged me tightly, and I did the same to him. I buried my face in his chest, taking in his scent. He really smells good.
“This couple is so sweet!”
I almost jumped in surprise when someone suddenly screamed. I quickly scanned the surroundings. It turns out we were accompanied by other royalties dancing here, including a few other students.
Reiri was paired with Hiro. They were dancing almost beside us. But their bickering still hadn’t ceased.
I couldn’t help but doubt their actions. In the past few days, we’ve noticed that they are often together. Though they still fight as usual. But what surprises us is Hiro’s obedience to every command of Reiri, even though it’s obvious that he doesn’t want to do it. I even remember him dancing in the middle of the school field because it’s what Reiri wants him to do! That made him earn non-stop laughter and teasing from all of us.
Behind them, Miley and Kira were both looking at us. It seems like they’ve just started dancing, and I’m sure it was Miley who screamed earlier.
But wait...
I immediately shifted my attention to where we were sitting earlier. But Mikan wasn’t there anymore. Steph must have noticed that I was looking for Mikan because she quickly pointed to the door. My gaze landed there. However, I only saw her back as she completely walked out.
“Are you okay?” Kyle asked, sounding concerned.
“Yeah. I’m fine.” I forced a smile.
We continued dancing, enjoying and cherishing the moment. But the truth is, I couldn’t help but worry about Mikan.
It seems like I don’t need to ask her anymore. Because by the looks of it, it seems like I finally got an answer to my questions.
As the song ended, the whole place was filled with the loud applause.

Third Person’s POV
While everyone continued to enjoy themselves in the function hall, there was a pair of eyes observing them from the outside.
However, as the song ended, it quickly turned and quietly walked away to start what they needed to do. To find vampires that they could use for their plan.
As it turned to the side of the dormitory where the vampires resided, it suddenly stops when caught sight of two students making out. It silently approached them to confirm a suspicion.
The students immediately sensed the other presence and quickly turned in to its direction.
They were vampires. Just perfect.
It hid the small bag it was carrying behind before slowly taking out two syringes from it.
“Having some fun out there, huh?” A wide grin forms on its lips.
The irritation on the faces of the two was evident. “It’s none of your business. Leave us alone,” the man replied coldly, and they continued with what they were doing.
It wasn’t deterred or afraid and remained in its position.
“I’m sorry to say this, but I just can’t leave the two of you alone. Because you both are my business.”
It was confronted fiercely by the two. But before they could say anything, it quickly injected the man with a syringe.
“What—” He couldn’t finish his sentence because he immediately lost consciousness and slowly fell to the ground.
“Who the hell are you? What did you do to him?”
The angry female vampire student rushed towards its direction, but it swiftly stabbed her with the remaining syringe.
A sinister smile made its way on its lips as it looked at the two vampires lying unconscious on the ground.
“Rest well and enjoy your meal later.” It smirked and began to walk away.
