Chapter 27: The Twin Witch Sisters

Nicole Jane’s POV
Two days have passed since the party happened, and everything has returned to normal. Most of the students are engaged in conversations about the recent exams. Some are hanging out in the field to rest, while others are playing games.
They are all enjoying themselves and laughing. However, you won’t hear them talking about the previous student’s night.
I walked towards our classroom with my head down when someone suddenly grabbed my arm. I looked up and saw Mikan pouting beside me.
“What really happened last Friday? The party didn’t push through, but no matter how hard I think, I can’t remember anything. It’s weird,” she said, tilting her head and holding her chin, lost in thought.
I just shrugged my shoulders and continued walking until we reached and entered our classroom. Mikan kept talking until we sat down, but I couldn’t understand what she was saying. My mind was preoccupied with so many things.
Even when the class started, I remained silent, contemplating the events of the past few days.
Athena used her ability to make all of them fall asleep here. Meanwhile, Althea was responsible for erasing their memories. I also discovered that the two of them were twin witch sisters. Specifically, they were white witches, the good ones.
They mentioned to us that our deceased parents, including Kyle’s, spoke to their clan before, asking them to transfer their powers to us when the time of our return comes.
Althea erased the memories of almost everyone here regarding the party that took place and even the four students who died. It’s better that they don’t remember that they were once classmates and friends with them.
They also erased the memories of the parents concerning the students who died. Honestly, I didn’t like that idea. I felt guilty because I knew that we were taking away a significant part of their lives.
But we didn’t have any other choice. People cannot know about vampires. Things might escalate, and other people may get involved.
According to the twins, they said that they have been here for a long time because they were summoned to the palace. They also informed us that they were responsible for the memory loss of the humans who were attacked in the supermarket a few months ago, which I also witnessed.
I couldn’t help but marvel at the abilities of those siblings, especially Althea. But she said that she doesn’t casually use her ability, especially when it’s not necessary, as it disrupts the balance of the world.
They also mentioned that the reason they came to the academy was to see me. They said they have wanted to meet me for a long time, ever since they heard that I was studying here. They were supposedly thrilled when they found out about it.
But they were informed by the king not to show themselves to us for the meantime because there are still some matters that should be taken care of by them.
“Nics.”
I blinked and looked at Mikan, who had a furrowed brow and was staring at me intently. “What?”
“You’re spacing out through the whole class. The class ended a while ago, but you still seem deep in thought. Is something wrong?” she asked with concern.
I sighed before quickly standing up. “I need to go. I won’t attend our next subjects. I still have to meet Kyle.”
She suddenly scowled at me. “You’re doing it again! You’re learning how to cut classes already. Isn’t Prince Kyle becoming a bad influence on you?”
I laughed at her remark.
“I’ll make it up to you. Promise.” I beamed at her, then waved my hand. “Bye!”
I hurriedly made my way to the mansion where the royals, as well as Athena and Althea, were present. We were going to discuss the incident that happened last Friday.
“I’ve gone through all the files of the students and staff here at the academy. Even their family backgrounds. But I haven’t found any information connecting them to the enemy,” Kira started.
“If that’s the case, then the enemy is operating discreetly. Besides, we’re familiar with the families of all the vampire students here. So, I’m sure none of them would disagree with how things are run in the palace. If they wanted to turn against us, they already know the consequences,” Kyle said while pacing back and forth.
“I’ve also talked to the parents of the two vampire students involved in the altercation. They’re willing to help find out what really happened to their children,” Hiro informed.
“We no longer have a problem with vampires if that’s the case. What we need to focus on now are the human students here.” We all looked at Vince after he said that.
“What do you mean?” Kyle asked.
Vince shrugged. “Nothing, really. I just thought about the possibility that there might be someone who knows about us and has infiltrated here to spy. For example—” He couldn’t continue what he was going to say and just shook his head.
We all fell silent. Yes, that possibility was indeed possible.
But what should Vince say, and why did his demeanor suddenly change?
I took a deep breath. Only the vampire hunters who were currently silent, and the protectors were the ones who knew about the vampires. It was impossible for one of those two groups to be traitors because they were both on our side.
As far as I knew, there had been an agreement between the vampire hunters and pureblood vampires to cooperate and protect each other in times of need. We just don’t know where the remaining purebloods were, as they had chosen to stay away from trouble.
“Vince has a point. But to be honest, it’s difficult to find a spy if we don’t even have a shred of information,” Athena interrupted.
We were lost in thought when Miley suddenly screamed.
“Oh my! Why don’t we ask for help from Dad?” Her eyes sparkled.
Kyle stopped pacing and slowly smiled. “Right. Why didn’t I think of that immediately? So stupid of me.”
I shifted my gaze between them, confused, as I had no idea what they were discussing. “Why? What kind of help can we ask from the king?”
“When Dad touches a person, whether they’re human, vampire or anything else, he can see their past and where they came from. That way, there’s a possibility we can find the enemy within the academy. He can also drift into the minds of almost all the students here simultaneously, so we don’t have to worry. It will just require a lot of time and effort,” Kyle explained.
I nodded in response to what Kyle said. I didn’t know that the king had such abilities.
After a few moments, the royals agreed to go to the palace first to talk to the king and the queen. The twins would also accompany them.
“We’ll be right back.”
I closed my eyes as Kyle kissed my forehead. When I opened them again, only Steph and I were left inside.
“Aren’t you coming back to class, Nicole?” she asked.
I sighed. “Let’s take a walk. I want to talk to you. We’ve been here together in the same room for almost two weeks, but we haven’t had a deep conversation yet.”
To be honest, I also have many questions I want to ask her. But a lot has happened in the past, and I really had a lot to do lately.
She smiled at me. “Okay.”

Kyle Ethan’s POV
“Why didn’t you at least inform us immediately that there was an attack on the academy?” Dad calmly asked, but there was still a tone of concern in his voice.
We are currently in the hall of the palace. We found out that the parents of Hiro, Kira, Vince, and Reiri are also here. Dad had just come from a meeting with them, so we waited for almost an hour.
That’s why we decided to let the other royalties spend time with their parents first since they haven’t seen them in a long time. Their parents were also busy ruling their own clans in another country.
I immediately told our parents about the problem and the reason for our visit here. As expected, they were both shocked and worried at the same time.
“I’m very sorry, Dad. We thought we could solve the problem without asking for your help. Besides, I know you have a lot to take care of here and for our whole clan, so I didn’t want to bother you,” I said.
That’s true. They entrusted the academy to us, so it’s our responsibility to take care of it and ensure the safety of everyone under our care.
Dad just sighed while Mom glanced at the Stanford witches.
“Do you think the black witches have something to do with whatever was injected into them?” she casually asked, but I could tell that the situation also bothered her.
I furrowed my brow. The black witches are the other covens of witches. As far as I knew, they weren’t really evil. They just knew a lot about black spells and other dangerous incantations.
“To be honest, I have also thought about that, Your Majesty. It’s not unlikely that the Croven’s conspired with one of the black witches,” Athena replied.
“They must have used an incantation and mixed it with the venom that was injected into the two students to affect the entire system,” Althea added.
“If that’s the case, we need to find out who the spy or traitor is within the academy, spreading chaos there,” Mom said, more to herself.
Dad looked at me and smiled. “Don’t worry. I can help you with what you’re asking for. But I hope I can identify the person quickly. Because we all know that any kind of ability and power has its own limitations.”
Mom looked at me seriously. “As much as I want to come with you, I can’t. I need to stay and ensure order and safety here in the palace. If the enemy managed to infiltrate the academy, it’s not impossible that someone also slipped their way into the palace.”
I clenched my fist upon hearing Mom’s words. Marcus won’t stop until he brings us down.
But he made a mistake by opposing us. In the grand scheme of things, he was alone. On the other hand, there were a lot of us who could finish him off if needed. I won’t allow him to completely bring down our pureblood clan.
“I understand. I’ll come back soon,” Dad tightly held Mom’s hand and gently squeezed it.
I couldn’t help but smile. Despite being married for years, their sweetness to each other hasn’t faded. And whenever they gaze at each other, you can still see the love in their eyes. One day, when all our problems are resolved, Nicole and I will be just as happy, forming our own family.
“If that’s the case, then everything’s settled. After our visit to the academy, we’ll go back home and talk to the black witch clan. It’s not their nature to meddle in vampire conflicts. So we need to find out who among them helped the Croven’s and what they received in return,” Athena added.
“Isn’t it dangerous for you to go alone to meet them?” Miley asked with concern, who had been quietly sitting in a corner.
Althea shook her head and smiled. “You have nothing to worry about. We can assure you that they won’t harm us.”
I stood up from my seat and looked at each of them, nodding.
“It’s settled, then. We need to make a move now before our enemies get ahead of us and escape again.”
