I am happy today and yesterday making me wonder what will happen soon or later to me. I am aware of how the world works.
Once you become happy over something, something might bad happen to you so I began to get nervous. Will Melanie knew what is happening between me and Hunter and went to us, saying something hurtful to me? Hurt me not physically but also mentally again? I still need to talk to Ayden and Mom and Dad, could it be true? Am I adopted? It feels like I will hear some bad news to Ayden and Mom and Dad. It has 100% they will give me the opposite feeling I am feeling today. I am happy today so I may feel down later on.
I sigh again. "Hey, are you still thinking about Mr. Dylan?" I fix my position to the chair and sigh again.
"Am I adopted? After 22 years of living, why am I just hearing it now?" I stare at nowhere, feeling blue.
"They must behave their reason why they hide it from you."
"If they had, what the reason could be? I love them all. All I need right now is confirmation, I want to hear all of this thing from them. But I am scared of hearing all those things. My heart surely couldn't take it."
I felt my hand was getting touched by Hunter's palm. I look at it before I look into his eyes. "Focus on my eyes," he said. I did. "All you need is confirmation, so you have to listen to them, don't have to care about your heart won't take it. You've gone through a lot in your life, haven't you? I knew you would take all of those." He smiles a little and hold my hand that was on the table. "And if your heart broke into broken pieces if your heart can't take it anymore. Don't hesitate to come to your friends or me and I would be there to your side. Time will heal you."
"Let me ask you, what do you want the most? To hear everything in one go or you will hear bad news every day? If you pick the first, then you want to take all the pain and it will heal soon but if you pick the second one, then you won't heal since you would be hearing bad news like every day."
The doorbell rang several times. I frown and was about to stand up but Hunter stands and went to the main door before I could go. "Yes?"
"Is Ms. Alexandria Morley in there?" I stands up again and went behind Hunter and take a look at who's standing on my doorstep. It was the same guy who came to Hunter's house yesterday and asks me if I want to go with them and asks me about my birthday. But he's not with anyone now.
"Yes? I am here," I said. Hunter looks back and steps back.
"Boss' can't stop on asking where were you. He wanted you to come here quick." I look at Hunter, he's just looking at the guy who's wearing a sunglasses and bodyguard suit.
"Is your Boss' name is Dylan Crawford?" He nodded. "I am still thinking about it. I'm sorry." I bowed again, I held Hunter's hand as the guy starts to approach me and was about to get inside the house.
I squeeze his hand, getting nervous. Hunter looks at me but I can't look back at him when I am alarming 'bout him to jump into me. Hunter pulled me behind him and block the guy to approach me. "You're not allowed to hold her."
"Boss' needed her,"
"Lira, my baby!" A familiar voice rang across the house. I tip-toed and look over Hunter's shoulder to see Mom making her way to my house.
My eyes got teary. Hunter looks at me when he noticed the woman in her 50s running towards my house. "Mr., Come back tomorrow, we have to discuss something important first," he excuses the man. He continued to blabber but I can't understand his words as I am more focused on my mother.
The man nodded and went outside. Mom saw the guy and had her mouth open wide and briefly stop in her tracks. She looks at me and runs towards me. "My baby," she cried. Her hand holds my both cheeks. "Please, don't go.."
"What?" Hunter usher us both to the living room and he closes the door.
"Dylan... He wants to find you." There's a bit of a frustrated look on her face. "I-I doesn't want to lose you, Lira. Please, I am begging you." She holds my hand and squeezes them. Even me, I don't want to leave them. We both treated each other like a family, they made me feel love and didn't make a reason I should think I am adapted or treated me differently from how they treat Ayden.
"Mom, I want to ask... How?" Hunter left beside me and went upstairs to give us space which made me nervous but glad as we can talk privately. Her eyes are fast to fill with tears. "How did I end up being adopted? Did my true parents don't love me?"
"No, they didn't. They love you. Your true parents divorced before you could see the world. Your mom is very abusive to your dad. When she gave birth to you, she left you to him and run away with her boyfriend. Your father was so upset that he can't even think properly and drunk himself, completely forgetting you." I look down, I don't know how to react to this. "He can't focus on his works and also on raising you, so he looks for someone to adopt you. I and Benedict are that someone, I get you along with your dad, Benedict. We were so happy that we doesn't want to let you go after I held you into my arms."
"All he thinks about is you, growing up. He wants you to grow up in the fullest and independent woman you are now. I know he deserves you to go back to him but I love you and care for you to the fact I don't want to lose you. But if you want then you can go. I won't ask you to come back, I would be very happy he is now reunited with his daughter."
"So you're telling me you adopted me? Why do you have to hide it from me? All these years, Mom? When will you plan to hide this from me? For the rest of my life, Mom? I don't want to tell you this but you're a little selfish... However, all I am feeling right now was just temporary because, in the bottom of my heart, you are the only the best Mom in the world." I burst into tears and hug her as she did it to me but a little tight.
"Thanks for understanding, Lira. Ayden is also working things to communicate with Dylan about where you are." I nod.
"You can go back to him and when you go there, there's a big reputation. You're the heir of his company." I shook my head.
"No way, I study education, not business, Mom." She just smiles at me. Hunter went to me after a little conversation with Mom. Mom didn't stay any longer because she had a small business to manage.
"See? You're not crying, meaning, you're strong!" He jump at the back of the couch and sat beside me. I scoff. "I accidentally heard what you both talked about." He looks at me as I did to him too. "Despite having a bad feeling you still choose to understand her. The other situation..."
"She's my mother, what can I do? She may not take care of me 9 months in her tummy, I am still thankful as she takes good care of me since I say hello to this world and have my own belief and handle my tantrums back then."
"Your parent must be feeling proud they raise you in the right way." I gave him my cheeky smiles. "Okay, stand up!" He stand up on his own and look at me, waiting for me to do what he just did. But instead of doing it, I look at him confused.
"And why?"
"To treat you an ice cream, you don't want?" My smile grew wider after hearing the ice cream. I immediately stand up.
"Who would say no to ice cream?" I blink my eyes. "And can we also get a donut? I am craving chocolate donut." He nods and grabs his pocket and coat. We both hopped in his car.
"How did Melanie approach you and tell you to pretend?" I look down at my hand and fidget my fingers as he asks that.
