Tempest Sword

Tempest Sword

YUR iKO

Prologue

A bold night it said. No stars were seen above, only the dry gloomy and dark sky appeared. No clouds cover the sky, only the moon and the undertaker's brightness. Even with such a vivid atmosphere, it was weird without being conclusive.
A sky without a star, yet not covered in clouds, has never happened in billions of years-or not ever. Which is why seeing it with their own eyes, made them uneasy at that moment and each of everyone who walks by the street can't help but to look above their skies and the stars that were taken from them.
It was a bust of mystery and it made into news that had been shown on a big screen appearing in a building above everyone's gaze. A news forecaster appeared on the news with the image of the sky and was seen on the left of the newscaster, who is a woman.
"-unfortunately, astronomers and scientists cannot identify this phenomenon. They said, "a sky without a star is impossible and it has never happened since the beginning of time."
"Many more scientists came out to investigate but no veil was seen, the sky will remain starless for the rest-" she paused and she looked in front when she suddenly lost her color. "We have a new report... In the east pacific, going through countries much like Korea, Japan, China and others had experienced a natural disaster that blinded their skies with red stars!"
Red stars? Seems unrealistic like being drowned out of a story book. Unbelievable as it is but it happened currently in a different country but why red stars? It doesn't seem right not even for him who stood steadily at the street's pathways.
Holding a bag of his groceries like-cabbage, carrots, corn, chicken, potatoes, and others that can be made out of curry. He wore an average long jacket that goes against his long and tattered pants, his hair was so long he never had time to cut it, with his boring expression that doesn't seem fazed.
He was frowning at the news he saw just now. Thought he lost care about it, he forgotten how to gave a fuck.
"Looking at our current state, be careful dear citizens and may we overcome this challenge sent by the heavens. Good night!"
He turned around to continue walking, unable to feel uneasy like everyone else. Others seemed worried but he didn't give a flinch, thanks to that he got to his apartment sooner as he intended, there were no events that happened upon his walk and he was grateful for that.
Once he entered his small type-kitchen, he immediately put his groceries in the small sink and he eventually left to change his clothes. Normally he would go jogging this weekend, but with the crisis of having no stars seen in the sky since last week, people were careful of this situation.
The local government wants them to stay indoors as much as possible for safety measures and they likely have to follow what happened 50 years ago, when a virus started spreading and killed so many people.
Once he was done changing into his pajamas, he went to his living room and turned on the TV. Before he left, the channel led to a newscast and saw a reporter in a scene where a meteor landed.
"This happened 5 hours ago, a meteor was sent flying to earth and hit various places," the reporter said and they show the meteor that was on the ground. What made him curious was the fact that a singular written sentence was engraved on the stone, it was a sentence he couldn't understand because of how the language seemed different from what he knew.
"Other places were hit as well, fortunately we don't have casualties yet, but be careful, these massive rocks will or may come falling from the skies like this meteor again. I am signing out."
He was fazed for a moment but neither so, he doesn't seem interested in knowing more about that sentence he just saw. Instead he went to his kitchen and prepared the necessary things to make a curry, like curry powder, chicken and other ingredients.
He gently took out the ingredients out of the plastic bag and prepared a strainer on the sink. He put all of the vegetables on the strainer and washed them out for it to be cleaned. He did the same with the chicken.
Once he's done, he prepares a plate and gives a long breath. "Warning! Another meteor rocks will fall on earth, evacuate as soon as possible!"
When he opens his mouth to take the first bite. A warning signal was shattering inside his TV, and another one outside of his apartment.
"I haven't eaten yet," he complained and immediately turned off the TV and went to look outside but he didn't seem to know how serious and bad the situation was for him to look rather complex.
He never would have guessed that his last meal-which he didn't even have time to taste and eat, was his last dish for eternity.
Just like how many predicted, however, he didn't die because of a truck driver trying to push the break or from an airplane crush, not even from a train accident or just by falling out of cliff and dies. Not from a stab, or a murder from someone, but a unlucky accident-or so he thought that took his life.
He died from a meteor crush... That is...
