Unexpected 45: Friend

I did not wait for Sir Troy when I got out of that room where I was with Roven. I left the building and took a taxi to the place where I needed to release the pain I felt from the past. I still can't get rid of the pain no matter how hard I try to forget it.
Why does he have to come back to mess with my heart and mind again? Why is it that when I finally accept the past, he comes back into my life to remind me of it again?
I went down to a Bar near the company I work for. I looked at the wristwatch I was wearing and realized that it was past ten o'clock at night and I didn't care about the time, as long as I knew I had to drink to somehow forget the pain and save myself.
I entered the noisy room. The loud ringing stung my ears causing me to close my eyes. I also saw many people around having fun there as if that was the place for the fun they needed. I went to the counter and sat there.
I took my cell phone and texted Andrea to come to me there, I also thought of texting Melissa to invite her for a drink. I feel like I need them, I need their noise and presence to somehow make me feel better.
While I was waiting, I ordered from the bartender in front of me. In fairness, he's handsome but I'm not in the mood to pay attention to him. I need a wine that will give me comfort. I feel that my heart is heavy. I'm struggling with my situation because I know in my heart, Roven is still there but my anger is always at the forefront of what he did to me in the past.
I still felt the warm wine in my throat until my stomach when I drank it. I even winced because of the taste.
Later I saw Andrea and Melissa approaching me. "Hey! Are you ok, Miles? Are you aware of what time it is now? It's already Ten and you texted me to go here for a drink?" I heard Melissa say loudly.
Andrea looked at me as if she's reading my mind. "You dressed up like that to go here, Miles? What's the problem?" said Andrea.
They came to me and sat on both seats and they put me in the middle. I smiled bitterly. "I just want to drink, Andrea, and I want to be with you two," I told them.
"Drink? Why isn't your husband, your mother? Why us? Hmm!" Melissa looked at me meaningfully. "Did you and your husband fight? Oh, Miles, remember when you're married, it's not fighting emotionally and physically anymore, it's fighting in bed," Melissa said seriously. I would have wanted to punch her if I wasn't so serious.
"Yeah! You have a point, Melissa. I like your brain," Andrea laughed in agreement.
"Stop me! Zandy and I didn't fight, ok? I just wanted to drink because I feel like I have to. That's it, ok? Just go with me," I scolded them. I turned to the handsome bartender. "Hey, do you have a girlfriend?" I asked. The man was surprised. I smiled as my two companions looked at me in surprise. "I mean, moderate wine is right for the three of us, enough to forget the pain of the past," I said meaningfully.
"Miles, are you ok?" Melissa asked with a hint of surprise.
"Is that you? You look strange and crazy," Andrea seconded.
I smiled even though it didn't reach my ears. "I'm fine, what are you thinking about? Because maybe he doesn't have a girlfriend yet, I would have sold Melissa since she's single and ready to mingle, right?"
Melissa was surprised and turned to the Bartender but immediately her eyes widened when she saw the handsome young man. "Ah! Eh! I-I'm shy! Hi," Melissa said softly while tucking her hair behind her ear. She's trying to be cute because the young man is handsome.
"Hey! Melissa, have shame on yourself, you should be tight-lipped sometimes," scolded Andrea with a laugh.
"I've been single for a long time, Andrea, and it's not the time to be hard to get," She answered. I saw the man just smiling while preparing wine for us.
"If anything, you're desperate to get a man to be your boyfriend, aren't you?" said Andrea.
"Stop! Let's drink until we're drunk, ok? We won't stop until our world spins," I scolded them. The young man placed the wine right in front of us so I immediately took it and drank it. I winced. "Hey, why is it bitter?" I asked.
"Ma'am, that wine is bitter and it fits you, it looks like you've been bitter because of the pain," he replied as if he knew what I was going through.
I frowned and looked at the young man. "You're talking too much, aren't you? Give me another drink, the one that's stronger than this one, so he can fight for me," I returned with a serious voice.
"Maybe you are, Miss? Or maybe the courage he has is the courage to leave you and not fight," said the bartender.
"What—Stop, just give me a drink!" I reprimanded him because I was hurt by what he was saying. After all, that was the truth.
"What are you going through, Miles, and the depth of your pull? You look so strange," commented Melissa.
I sighed before drinking again the wine that the bartender gave which was even more bitter. I immediately felt it because of the courage of it but not enough to make me drunk.
"I know you, Miles, you won't want to drink if there's no reason and you wouldn't act like that if you're ok. I've known you for a long time and you don't need to hide. Tell me, what's the problem?" Andrea asked seriously.
I didn't say a word immediately and I didn't turn to them either. I drank the wine. I sighed and bit my bottom lip. "I just came from the interview with that anonymous person. A successful businessman, full of dedication and dreams. The man I never expected to come back to my life. And I found out that the anonymous person was Roven, my ex-boyfriend who left me because of a man like him," I started telling the story with traces of sadness and pain.
"What! Roven is the guy you need to interview. Seriously, Miles?" Andrea asked in shock. "What a small world," she added.
"Wait! I'm confused, Miles what does that mean? Your ex-boyfriend came back and you're still affected? You're married to Zandy, right? So why are you still affected?" Melissa was curious and confused.
"The truth is, we just married because of our families and not because we loved each other, Melissa," I confessed to her.
"What! Arrange Marriage? Wow! Is that still a trend these days?" Melissa's incredulous reaction.
"But wait, before you ask Melissa, I wanna hear from Miles what happened with her interview with Roven," said Andrea.
I smiled bitterly. I hit my head while resting my elbow on the counter. "I don't know what to feel right now, Andrea I don't know how I should feel about Roven's return, I'm hurt because of the past but I know he still has a place in my heart." I didn't realize that tears were falling from my eyes. "It's all complicated! When did I finally accept the past that he's no longer in my life and then he comes back to say he came back to get me back? Damn! He just wouldn't come back!"
"Miles," I heard Andrea mention as she rubbed my back gently.
"Come on! Miles, I don't know. What are we going to do?" Melissa said in a panic.
I wiped the tears from my eyes. "I'm ok! I can handle it, I can handle him being gone for a year, right?" I said. "Let's just drink, Andrea, Melissa. Let's get drunk until we forget everything." I laughed but there was sadness and pain in my voice.
"Miles, we're just here. You can cry, until the pain you feel subsides. I know you're struggling with your situation right now, but I know you can handle it. You just have to think about everything and make a decision about what will be better for you," Andrea said.
"Andrea is right, Miles, we're just here. You didn't say you were going through something like that, I wish I had just taken the others, right? Then, let it go, just give Roven to me. Successful businessman, it turns out he is." Melissa laughed. "Joke," she said at the same time.
I took the wine in front of me and drank it. "Come on, let's drink," I said to the two of them. "Cheers." I raised my glass and so did they both.
I felt the alcohol hit my body. Even so, I feel that something heavy inside me has been lightened with the help of Andrea and Melissa. We just continued to drink while laughing at what Melissa was saying. It's even fooling the handsome bartender that it's about to take home.
I didn't realize that I had drunk so much alcohol that I felt like I was spinning around.
