Chapter 2: Mr. Angry Bird
Chapter 2: Mr. Angry Bird
The next morning, Riley made herself busy so that she could be away from her Masters but that's completely impossible right now. Now that they're living on the same roof.
She couldn't define what she feels now that she already met the four arrogant yet downright gorgeous men in this mansion. This feeling is new to her. All her life her heart had never gone wild inside her ribcage.
What is happening to me?
She erased that thought in her mind and just focused on her job as a maid.
JAKE WAS about to look for Riley when he saw her in the living room while vacuuming.
"Riley!"
She smiled when she saw him and stopped from what she was doing. "Master Jake. Do you need something?"
He excitedly nodded. "Yes. Can you help me with my homework?"
Riley stilled and suddenly got embarrassed. "Uhm, I'm afraid I can't do that, Master Jake. I mean, I stopped going to school so I lacked knowledge."
Jake nodded and did a lollipop smile. "How about I teach you?"
Her eyes widened. "Huh?"
Instead of answering her confusion, he grabbed her hand and pulled her to his study room. Riley couldn't know what to do and let her Master Jake pull her.
"WHICH DO you prefer?" Jake asked. "Physics or Math?"
Riley can't help but to bite her lower lip. Honestly, she hates those two subjects. But she didn't want to embarrass herself nor offend Jake's offer to teach her.
"I'll go with physics." she answered.
Jake chuckled and rolled his tongue over his lips. "Afraid of numbers, I see."
She snorted. "Yeah, right. I hate math."
"Well, I like math. So, let's start?"
Riley nodded and listened to Jake while teaching her physics. At first, she couldn't understand anything. But thank God that Jake was understanding and patient. You wouldn't see his temper or holding himself back.
He just remained with a goofy smile on his face. Infact, he looks like he's enjoying himself teaching a stubborn maid like me.
"Okaaay, break time!"
Riley let out a breath. "Thank God, it's done."
Jake laughed. "You look like you've been running ten kilometers straight, Riley. So, tomorrow again?"
She grunted and covered her face. "Oh please can we do it two times a week? It's exhausting, you know. Have you forgotten that I still have a lot of work to do?"
Jake can't help himself to laugh hard. He started to like teasing her.
"Just kidding, Riley. Of course I wouldn't let you get tired. Mentally or physically. If you want I could help you with the chores." he offered.
Of course she appreciated his offer but it's her job. And he's her freaking Master for goodness sake.
"No thank you, Master Jake. I can totally handle my job fine." Riley flexed her biceps. "I'm a strong independent woman, Master." Then she winked at him.
Jake messed her hair. "Okay, okay, I believe you. How about lunch with me later?"
"Sure thing, Master."
JUST LIKE as planned, the two did eat lunch together. Riley was thankful that it was only Jake and her who were on the dining table.
She wonders where her three Masters were all this time.
Riley was about to throw some garbage to the trash bin outside the mansion when she saw a limousine parked right in front of the mansion.
Their personal butler opened the passengers door and that's when her Master Jay, Hoon and Ethan came outside of the limousine.
To her inspection, the three came into a charity ball or something. They were all wearing expensive and elegant tuxedos. They look so refreshing to see.
Their personal butler cleared his throat. "Miss Riley, I beg your pardon but please don't just stand there and stare like that. Go and help your Masters at the dining table. They haven't eaten dinner yet."
She immediately nodded and guided the three towards the dining hall and helped them with their dinner.
What kind of a charity ball is that? They haven't eaten dinner yet? Huh, that's so totally lame!
"Hey, people. How's the big event?" Jake entered the dining room. He sat in front of Jay who's busy with his steak.
Hoon grunted. "Boring as ever."
Jake laughed at him. "Told yah. That's why I refused to come with you three."
They all went silent after Jake's words and Riley just stood there if ever her Masters needed something.
Ethan broke the silence. "My father is going to visit here tomorrow. He said he misses mom."
She saw Hoon roll his eyes. "That's gross. But that's what my father also told me. He's gonna visit mom at the end of this week."
Riley can't help but to eavesdrop on their conversation. She's nearly getting confused in their conversation. She wanted to ask but it's not her place to ask. It's their family matter.
"How 'bout you, Jay? Are you still keeping in touch with your father? How's he?" Jake asked Jay, who still remained silent in the corner.
Jay put wine on his glass and he drank it bottoms up before he speaks.
"I don't know. And I don't want to know." he coldly said and left the dining table.
"Damn, why is he so cold?" Jake murmured.
"Get used to it, hyung. He's always like that when he finds out that we have different fathers." Hoon explained and somehow Riley got it.
"Yeah, we all got shocked about what we found out years ago and it will still attach to our heart. Maybe us three were able to move on from the fact that we haven't had the same father, but Jay is not in the process of moving on to accept that fact so let's just understand him. We all have been through that situation." Ethan uttered.
Jake drank the whole bottle of wine. "Yeah, suck it up, buttercup."
Riley felt awful for them. They may be rich or have golden spoons on their mouth but the fact how miserable their life is, it sucks.
"But at least we have each other." Ethan added and looked in her direction. "Right, Riley?"
She instantly went rigid when she heard her name. "H-Huh?"
Jake and Hoon turn their gaze at her.
"Nothing. By the way, have you already eaten? If not, come and join us."
"Thank you, Master Ethan but I already ate."
"Really?" It was Hoon. "How about getting us some dessert? I kinda want to eat something sweet."
She nodded and went to the fridge to check if there's any dessert left. Riley went back to the dining table holding a cup of ice cream.
"This is the only dessert left, Master Hoon."
Hoon raised his eyebrows and seconds later, his face turned white and did a disgusting look. "Is that mint chocolate? Uhm, no thanks. I rather not eat dessert." he stood up and left the dining table.
The two who's left at the dining table, chuckled. "He hates mint chocolate flavor, Riley. Only mom wants mint chocolate."
"Oh,"
"Riley, Master Jay is asking to bring corn in his room." said the maid who's old enough to her that caught her attention.
Riley frowned and thought about something to become her alibi as fast as she could. She didn't want to see her one and only grumpy Master inside this mansion.
"Sorry, Miss Anderson but Master Jake asked me to wash the dishes."
But it looks like Miss Anderson is persistent. "But Riley, Master Jay wants you to bring his corn to his room. I can wash the dishes if that's your problem."
She bit her lip in annoyance.
Why does it have to be me? There's hundreds of maids here in the mansion and why me?!
Riley grumpily marched towards the kitchen and find some corn for her angry bird Master.
A playful thought came through her mind.
She smirked. This is your payment for your rude attitude, Mr. Angry bird.
