Chapter 63

Like Vivianne, Alfred's men were also surprised to see Beckett pointing his gun at them. His gaze was sharp and menacing, causing them to step back slightly. No one spoke to them, afraid that Beckett might pull the trigger and kill them all.
While the servants didn't know the true nature of the young man, the guards did. They also knew how brutal Beckett could be towards his enemies.
He was no longer afraid of blood, and he was willing to do anything for Vivianne.
"Lower your weapon. They're becoming more tense with you pointing the gun at us," Vivianne ordered her husband, glancing around anxiously. "Mom will worry if she hears gunshots downstairs."
"Then tell them to drop their guns first, because I'm not planning to be vulnerable while all their guns are pointing at us… Especially you," Beckett replied, still focused ahead, watching the movements of each opponent.
But no one lowered their guns, so Beckett became even more alert. Tension filled the silence between them. It was only broken when someone suddenly arrived from the kitchen. It was Alfred, his brow furrowed as he looked at Beckett. His hand paused as he was about to put his cellphone in his pocket.
"How dare you cause chaos inside my house, Clainfer?" Alfred asked as he walked towards them. "And how dare you point your fucking gun at my people?"
"I was going to ask the same thing. How dare your people point the fucking gun at us?" Beckett retorted in a deep voice. "Whether this is your house or not, what I'm going to do will be self-defense since they are the ones to threaten my life."
Alfred immediately understood what Beckett meant. He looked at his men and signaled for them to lower their guns. They obeyed.
But they were all surprised when Beckett suddenly aimed the gun at Alfred. Alfred's men were about to raise their guns again when Alfred raised his hand and shook his head.
"If you shoot first, I can have you imprisoned," Alfred said, his voice cold and threatening. "So... Do it."
Beckett didn't immediately respond. Instead, he tightened his grip on the gun, and the same went for the girl's waist. Vivianne just stared at her husband, unsure of what to say.
Tension rose between the two, and Beckett's desire to pull the trigger was evident in his eyes. Vivianne couldn't breathe properly for a moment, and neither could Alfred's men.
But after a while, Beckett lowered the gun and returned it to his waist. "Don't worry. I'm not a killer," he said with a grin. "It's settled, then. Their guns are down anyway."
Vivianne only breathed a sigh of relief then. Beckett glanced at her before returning his gaze to Alfred. The young man had realized something when he saw Vivianne's reaction. That Vivianne still didn't want Alfred to die despite his cruelty to them.
"What's happening here?" Alfred asked one of his men as he approached him.
"They wanted to go upstairs to see Ma'am Ella, Sir. So we blocked them," Vivianne's servant replied.
"Is that so?" Alfred raised an eyebrow before looking at Vivianne. "And why do you want to meet her? Haven't I told you several times that it's not allowed?"
"I want to introduce Beckett to my mom. Isn't that allowed?" Vivianne replied, her voice tinged with anger. "You didn't even let him attend the wedding, and now I'm only seeing him now. Are you still going to forbid me?"
"And it will take her a long time to come back here. You can at least do a favor for her," Beckett interjected into their conversation.
"And why? Are you going to live together in one house without even informing me?" Alfred asked, his brow furrowed. "You two are just married, but I'm still Vivianne's father. She can't just leave without my permission."
Beckett's ears pricked up at what he heard. He felt irritation rise within him because if Alfred treated Vivianne like a toy he controlled. Nonetheless, he tried to calm himself.
"We're not living together yet, but I'm taking her to Agrianthropos City," Beckett replied before flashing a fake smile. "And Vivianne, my wife, wanted to see her mother before we leave again."
Alfred smiled inwardly upon hearing those words. He knew that place because he had been investigating Foedus for a long time. Finally, with Vivianne's help, he would find out what was on that island!
"Alright. Let them go upstairs," Alfred ordered his men, and they immediately stepped aside to let the couple pass. "And take care on the road when you leave. When do you plan to come back?"
"I'll inform the office," Vivianne answered, her tone cold. "Can we go upstairs now?"
"Sure." Alfred's phone rang at the perfect moment, so he left the living room afterward, followed by his men.
Beckett and Vivianne went up the stairs. Vivianne's eyes burned with anger as she remembered what Alfred had said earlier, while Beckett grinned. It seemed like something good had happened, causing Vivianne to furrow her brow.
"Why does it seem like you're in a good mood?" Vivianne asked.
"I just remembered how you called me your husband," he replied, grinning wider.
"Why? It's true, isn't it?"
"I didn't tell you that it isn't true, but I just like it." Beckett grinned and held Vivianne's chin. He leaned closer to her. "Because it feels like you're marking me… that I'm yours. That I'm a part of your territory."
Vivianne's face flushed quickly upon hearing that. She even became momentarily speechless and had trouble breathing properly because Beckett was so close to her, but luckily, she snapped out of it suddenly.
"Y-Your face." Vivianne pushed her husband away before hastily walking towards her mother's room.
Beckett followed with a grin on his lips. He's whipped… and he didn't even have any complaints.
"Mom," Vivianne called out upon seeing Ella on the bed, sitting while watching the news.
"Sweetie…" Ella smiled, especially when Vivianne kissed her cheek. Then her gaze landed on the man behind her daughter. "You're Beckett Clainfer, right? The wealthy model?"
"Uh… Yes," Beckett replied bashfully before scratching his neck. It was his first time experiencing this.
"Wow, you have manners? It's surprising to see you like that," Vivianne couldn't help but laugh after saying that. "Seriously, if I were still working at Syneverse, I'd gossip about you all over there—Just kidding."
Vivianne immediately retracted her statement because Beckett gave her a glare. Ella gently tapped her daughter's arm to scold her, so she looked at her mother.
"You really are a kid. Always up to mischief," Ella scolded her daughter. "Sorry, dear. My child can be quite mischievous sometimes, but she's kind-hearted even if she's sometimes grumpy."
"Mom!"
"Why? It's true, isn't it?"
Beckett chuckled slightly. Vivianne said the same thing earlier, so he noticed their similarities. Vivianne still had a frown on her face while pouting and looking at her mother, which made her smile widen even more.
He remembered the times when he also experienced those things… but that murderer took his parents’ lives. He would never forgive that person.
"Mom, this is Beckett. M-My husband…" Vivianne said with a shy tone before taking the young man's hand. "Beckett, my mom…"
"Good afternoon." Beckett approached Ella and bowed. "I'm Beckett Hernandez Clainfer, your daughter's husband. And please don't worry because I'm willing to sacrifice my life for her."
Upon hearing that, Ella shook her head, which puzzled Beckett.
"I don't need someone willing to sacrifice their life for my child. What I need is someone who is willing to be with her through any hardships, for life."
