Chapter 6: Her New Identity
Chapter 6: Her New Identity
Vishiea’s POV
“Vishiea? Are you ready? Miss Kiara wanted to see you now,” I heard someone say behind the door. I took a deep breath and sighed, “I’m ready; just wait for me there,” I replied and stood up from the chair. With one last glance at myself in the mirror, I approached the door and opened it.
I saw Dylan’s face. I know he’s sad, but he’s masking his genuine emotion with his smile. I raised an eyebrow when I saw him only staring at me. “What?” I snapped.
He grinned and was about to mess up my hair, but I stepped back. “Not my hair, idiot. Where is Mother Kiara?” I asked. He laughed softly, “All right, fury. She’s on her room’s balcony. Waiting for you,” He answered.
I nodded, “All right then. I’ll go ahead and meet her,” He nodded. “Sure, but let me walk with you.” Even if I declined his offer, he still did what he wanted.
“Do you know what she will say?” He asked while we were walking in the broad hallway. Dylan’s father has been working for his Mother Kiara, for a long time. He’s been here when I arrived.
After I was exiled to the kingdom's mainland, I wandered on the streets without even a single penny in my pocket. I was starving, crying for help, but no one helped me. I stayed that way for almost three months until, one day, Kiara found me.
She’s a lady in his late fifties, filthy rich but lonely. She took me in, clothed and fed me. I did not expect her to take pity on me. She was cold to me at first but gradually changed. She started to treat me nicely and embraced me as if I was her own child.
At that moment, I knew I found someone who could help me. Love me as my father and mother did. And that was the moment I called her Mother Kiara.
Three months after she took me in, she adopted me. She asked me if I wanted to change my name but I declined. She did not say anything and just accepted my decision.
Mother Kiara is the kindest person I know. I owe her my life; I will do it if she asks me something.
“Vishiea?” I was snapped back into reality when Dylan called my name. I forgot that he existed. “What you were saying?” I asked without looking at him. In my peripheral vision, I saw him shake his head.
“You’re not listening at all. I’m asking you if you know what Miss Kiara will say?” He repeated. Why is he asking me? I have no idea. I shook my head, “I don’t know. Maybe she wanted me to kill you,” His brow furrowed.
“Kill me? Why would she want you to kill me?” I stopped walking and glared at him. I slapped his forehead lightly, “What a slow poke. I’m joking, your dumbass.”
He stared at me, confused. But a few seconds later, his eyes widened. He just realised it now; he is such a slow-minded person.
“Oh, that’s very dark, Vishiea. I know you can kill someone, but I never thought you were planning to kill me,” I rolled my eyes at him.
“I’m not planning to kill you, but I will if you won’t stop,” I warned. He chuckled and raised both of his hands. “I’m just joking,” he said and awkwardly laughed.
“Anyway, you can go alone now. Don’t forget to have chitchat with me later,” he said while waving his hand. He changed his path, and now he’s walking away.
I sigh when he’s gone from my sight. He is such an annoying creature, but he’s a good friend. I shrugged my shoulder and resumed walking.
I knocked on Mother Kiara’s room three times before entering. And Dylan was right; she was on the balcony. She was looking at the scenery in front of her. Her personal maids looked at me when they saw me coming.
They all bowed, “My lady”. I nodded and smiled a little. “The three of you can leave now,” Mother Kiara commanded in her low voice.
“Yes, your grace.” They bowed again and left. I was left alone with her now. She’s still not looking at me.
“Come closer, dear.” I can barely hear her voice. Twenty-five years ago, she was diagnosed with a rare disease wherein her wolf and body gradually weakened.
I did not know about that matter at first, but three years ago, she told me about the truth. She said she was dying and she couldn’t be with me anymore.
Her story saddened me even more. She lost her mate at the age of eighteen, three weeks after she found him. They love each other, but fate won’t let them be happy. Her mate died two days before their wedding because of an accident.
Even if he died, she still married him. She vowed not to love someone else again. Love hurts. I thought my mate’s betrayal before caused too much pain. But her situation is far more painful.
They love each other, and no one cheats. It is pure love, but… he died. Maybe that’s why she’s living alone and choosing to live in the darkness.
“How are you, dear?” She softly asked me. I placed my hand on the handle of her wheelchair. “I’m okay. How about you?”
A sad smile formed on her lips, “Getting weaker as the days go on.” She said honestly. That makes me sad. I pressed my lips together.
“I know I only have a few days left in this world. And I also know I can’t change my fate anymore,” She continued.
She looked at me, “Because of that. I wanted you to do something for me.” I nodded, “Please do tell, mother.” She smiled.
“I know you will say that,” I will follow her words. She became my second mother. “Before I die, I wanted you to carry my surname. Have a new identity,” I was shocked to hear that from her again.
Our last discussion about this matter was five years ago. “I’m forcing you to do that, but I know there is still pain in your heart. You wanted to avenge your family, right?”
“I…” She faced me and looked directly in the eye. “I treated you as my own child. I know what’s going on in your mind now,” I bit my bottom lip.
She noticed my hatred against the kingdom, but I never expected her to say this.
She took my hand, “They exiled you, killed your whole family. That’s just not right. I know the justice in this kingdom is unfair, terribly unfair. You don’t deserve that. Use what I taught you. Let them taste their own medicine.”
I looked down. I couldn't do that even if I wanted to avenge my family. I’m nothing in their eyes. “I don’t know if I can do that.” She held my jaw and made me look at her.
“You can. From now on, you will be Vishiea Anastasia Cullen. The new lady of this house. I’m giving you all my assets, power, wealth, and authority.” I was dumbfounded by what I heard. What? She smiled widely, “I don’t have anyone except you. You became my everything, my daughter.”Download Novelah App
