At Johnny's Room.
He looked at Ruby, who was still sleeping and observed her. Then, she opened her eyes slowly, and suddenly, Carmine called out her name again and Johnny informed her.
“Carmine, she will be with you shortly.”
“It is okay.”
Now, Carmine and Stanley took their seats on the couches and waited. Meanwhile, Ruby was awake and Johnny greeted her with a peck.
“Good morning, my Ruby. I hope you slept well.”
She held his hand and responded, “Yes, my dear. And you?”
“I did. What of our baby, did she sleep well too?”
“Yes. She said good morning, Dad.”
At that point, he excitedly ran his hand through her belly and greeted, “Baby girl, Dad says good morning too.”
“Let me clean up and see Carmine.”
“It's okay.”
She got out of bed and brushed her teeth, and Johnny did the same. Thereafter, they joined Stanley and Carmine in the parlor.
“Good morning, Johnny," Carmine greeted him hurriedly and before his response, she attacked Ruby, who was behind him.
“What is the meaning of this, Ruby?”
Now, they had taken their seats and they focused on her for a clue. After a few seconds, of waiting for her and no response came, Ruby greeted her.
“Good morning, Carmine. Meaning of what, please?"
Now, Johnny drew her closer and gave her some comfort. Then, he looked at Stanley for a clue and back to Carmine, but Stanley was smiling and looking at Carmine, who was angry with Ruby for the first time.
“Why did you post your pregnancy on the internet?” She asked with an angry outburst. 
Now, Ruby looked down in shame and Carmine continued, “Don't you know that you are now in a vulnerable position because many haters surround you?”
She paused and waited for her response with a reprimand look on her face. 
Afterward, she continued, “I almost fainted when I got to your room and met the door vandalized…”
At that point, Johnny felt that she had spoken enough and interrupted her. Then, he lied to protect his Ruby.
“It's okay, Carmine. She has apologized to me.”
Then, Stanley blurted out, “Apologize to only you? The baby belongs to all of us. Do you know how many congratulatory messages I have received because I will soon be an uncle?”
Johnny laughed happily and apologized on behalf of Ruby, who was still looking down.
“So sorry, expectant uncle. She is not proud of what she did. Kindly pardon her incautious act.”
Now, the two men looked at Carmine, who was overwrought about her next action. Then, she smiled softly and asked, “What about me? I deserve an apology.”
“Oh! Expectant Grandma," Johnny teased.
Nevertheless, the three burst into joyous laughter. Now, Ruby lifted her head and looked at Johnny, who was smiling at them. Soon, she joined in the laughter. Carmine stood up and walked to her. She spread her hands and she got up at once and walked into them for a hug.
“Congratulations, Baby girl. We won the battle.”
“Thank you, big sister. I owe you everything.”
Meanwhile, Johnny and Stanley were not aware of the battle, and they attributed it to the quarrels they had with other girls, unaware that the battle she had in mind was to get Johnny and keep him. 
Afterward, Stanley walked to Johnny and spoke, "Guy, I am happy with the turnout of events. Congratulations to both of you.”
“Thank you, for standing by us," they acknowledged synchronously. 
Then, Stanley walked back to his seat. Likewise, Carmine had taken her seat beside Stanley, and he asked with concern, "Did you say that her door was vandalized at the hostel?”
“Yes. I noticed it when I went to her room to get her.”
Then, Stanley sat up from the chair and leaned forward. 
He looked at Johnny and asked, “Guy. Did you hear that? Who must have done that?”
“I'm certain that the person wished to hurt her, but unfortunately for him or her, she was not there,” Carmine added. 
Afterward, they looked at Johnny and waited avidly for his response. Meanwhile, Ruby suppressed her laughter and Johnny scratched his head, with a mischievous smile on his face. 
“What is it, Johnny? Why are you not saying anything?” Stanley asked. 
Now, Ruby looked at his face and could not hold the laughter anymore. 
Then, she burst into unrestrained laughter and Johnny asked, “Have you wondered how she got here in the middle of the night?”
“What!” Stanley exclaimed.
“Did you barge into the girls' hostel, Johnny?” Carmine asked with apprehension.
“When I learned of the post from Gerald. I had no choice but to get her out of the hostel to get the gist, and ensure that she was safe.”
“And you barged into the girls' hostel at that time of the night.” Stanley pointed out. 
Then, he stood up again, walked to Johnny, and stretched out his hand for a handshake. Johnny stretched out his hand too and took his.
“I like your guts. Keep it up.”
“Thank you.”
Then, Carmine teased, “At least, I'm certain that my grandchild is safe.”
They laughed heartily and stood up to return to their respective rooms. At that point, Ruby's phone rang and everyone halted. 
She looked at her phone which was in her hand and said, “Prof. Farrell.”
Now, the atmosphere changed from a happy one to curiosity. Then, she looked at Johnny, who felt that the call was connected to his visit to the hostel. 
He braced up and advised, “Pick up the call, and let's hear what he has to say.”
Ruby obeyed and picked up the call, “Hello, Prof.”
“Meet me in the office in the next thirty minutes," the Vice Chancellor roared with an intimidating voice.
“It is all right, Prof," she responded with a quivering voice. 
Just like Johnny, she thought that it had to do with barging into the hostel. Then she gave him a searching look.
“Don't panic. When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross it. Okay?” He assured her with an unflinching determination
“I got it," she assured him.
