They walked out of his office together and got to the security department. While his father was discussing with Mr. Meyer, he walked to the backyard and drove out his car. Meanwhile, Joel, who was discussing the security issues at Cashew Island with Meyer, got up when his boss walked in, and went to meet Johnny when he saw him walking towards his car.
“Young Master, I hope you are not planning to return without guards?”
“Not at all. I have asked my father to arrange for some.”
“That is good.”
Sometimes, being an only child and a loved one had its demerits. All the same, Johnny had a powerful defense mechanism to evade their excess love, which at times, could be suffocating. Soon, he drove to the gate. To avoid his unpredictable son turning his arrangements down, he asked Joel to accompany him and wait for him at the school.
“Son, will you be okay if Joel accompanies you?”
“That is more appropriate.” He responded and got out of his car. 
Then, he walked to his father, who was a few inches away from his car and spread his for a hug. Sir Stewart received him into his embrace and gave him all the energy he needed to return to school and get his Ruby back from wherever.
“All right, Son. Take care of your health and be careful.”
“I will, Dad. Regards to my mom.”
He walked back to his car and got in. Meanwhile, Joel was already in his car and waiting for him. Then, the security vehicle was set too. The moment he got into his car, the security van moved and he followed. He waved at his father, and he waved back at him. He watched them until they drove out of the complex.
'Family is everything,' he mumbled and returned to his office.
At Johnny's Apartment.
When Stanley woke up and resolved to call Johnny, Carmine was still sleeping on the couch. She was disturbed by Stanley's call. He was not bothered that he disturbed her because she ought to be up by that time too. She listened to their discussions which Stanley was aware of and chose to address Sir Stewart with his honorific title without his name otherwise, he would expose the status that Johnny had concealed over the years.
After the call ended, Carmine inquired, “Do you know whether he saw Ruby before he left?”
“I think so," Stanley pointed out because the Johnny he knew would not let go if he did not resolve that issue.
Now Carmine breathed freely and rested on Stanley's legs.
“Do you think that Johnny is emaciated?” he inquired.
“Yes. He will recover now that the issue between him and Ruby is resolved.”
“You are right. Can we prepare anything for them before they return?”
Carmine got up from his legs, looked at his handsome face, and teased, “Big brother. You are so caring. I love you, for that.”
(Kiss, kiss)
“I love you too.”
Subsequently, they walked to the kitchen and prepared their favorite delicacies. About an hour after leaving the complex, Johnny, and his team arrived at the school gate at 2:45 PM.
“Thank you for your time," he appreciated them after he got out of his car. 
“You are welcome, Young Master.”
Then, he drove to the school premises and afterward to his house. It had never crossed his mind that his Ruby was not in his house yet.
“Welcome back, guy.”
“Thank you, Stanley. What's up?” He asked and took his seat. 
Before Stanley could respond, Carmine walked out of the kitchen and greeted him with a smile. “Welcome back, Johnny.”
“Thank you, Carmine. You are indeed an expectant Grandma," he teased and they laughed aloud.
Afterward, Johnny, who thought that Ruby was resting in his room, enthusiastically looked at his door, and asked, “How is she?”
Now, Stanley and Carmine exchanged looks, and Johnny observed it. Then, he asked, “Is she still not back?” 
“I thought you went to see her?” Stanley asked.
“Yes. But I did not meet her at the VC's office. I expected that she should be back by now.”
“Have you called her again," Stanley asked.
 Johnny and Carmine attempted to call her number again and got the same result.
“Switched off,” Carmine, who dialed her number first, informed them. 
Then, Stanley came up with a possible reason why she could still be at the Vice Chancellor's office.
“I guess that the Vice Chancellor must have been too busy to discuss with her due to the numerous visitors he had today.”
Johnny looked at them and declared, “Could she be in the VC's office and I didn't see her?” He asked and relaxed a bit. 
Then, Carmine proposed, “Stanley is right. Let's wait for the close of work.”
“Has she had her lunch and why is her phone switched off?” Johnny asked. 
Then Stanley responded, “We will find out when we see her. Meanwhile, you need to eat. Your dad said you don't look healthy.”
Now, Carmine walked back to the kitchen and returned with his plate of food, before she walked back to get another two plates for Stanley and herself.
“Eat.” Stanley urged.
“I just had my lunch.”
“No. I am not taking that. Eat and be healthy so that you will have the energy to take care of your Ruby.”
“And my grandbaby,” Carmine added.
All the same, he had his meal and to their delectation, he finished his food. Afterward, nature took its toll on him. The excess food and the stress of the day caused him to sleep soundly and even at 4 o'clock, when the office had closed, he was still sleeping and Stanley never bothered to wake him up. At 4:30 PM, he woke up and looked at the time. He called Ruby again and the result was the same.
“Dad would still be with the Vice Chancellor. I can't be at the Administrative Block now.” He reasoned. 
Then, he called Joel, and he confirmed that his father was still with the VC. He lay on the bed while his mind wandered over many things, some gave him joy, while some reminded him of his ugly past.
At the Administrative Block
After Johnny left the complex. His father returned to his office and after a couple of minutes, he called on Dominic to get the vehicle ready.
“All right, Boss.”
Then, he got to the vestibule, and the guards, who would have accompanied Johnny, got set at once.  
“Where are we going, Sir?" The driver asked when he got into the vehicle.
“To madam's place.”
“All right boss.”
