At the Senior Staff Clinic
After Ruby laid on Dr. Harmon's bed and watched the television, she slept off. Now, Dr. Harmon had fallen in love with her because of her refusal to see an abortion as an option. At lunch, she walked into her room and met her still sleeping. She left for the canteen again and got her lunch for her.
“Ruby, wake up. You can continue with your sleep after lunch,” Dr. Harmon said after she tapped her legs. 
She opened her eyes slowly and the doctor gave her a pleasant smile. Ruby was encouraged when she saw her smile and opened her eyes.
“Hello, Dr. Harmon,” she greeted her.
“How do you feel, Ruby?”
“I'm fine, Doctor. Thank you for your concern. And you?”
Now, Ruby got up and sat on the bed. 
“I'm fine. Thank you.” The doctor said and presented the food.
“Eat. You must be famished.”
“Thank you, Doctor. I'm grateful.”
She appreciated her and ate her food while the doctor watched her. She thought of Carmine and resolved that after her meal, she would request to see her. But before she could finish her food, the effect of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) injection caused her to sleep off. Dr. Harmon helped her to lie properly and cleared the table. She returned to her office and continued with her work. While she was working, her phone which was beside her rang, and she glanced at it.
“Oh!” She exclaimed when she saw the caller's name. 
Then, she hurriedly picked it up and greeted, “Hello, Prof. Farrell. How may I be of help?”
“Hello, Dr. Harmon. Can you bring the student to my office?”
“Consider it done, Prof.”
“Thank you, Doctor.”
She got up at once and walked to her room. She looked at Ruby, who was sleeping peacefully and hated to wake her up. Then, she turned to leave, but Ruby was disturbed by the sound of her shoes.
She opened her eyes and called out, “Dr. Harmon. Is there any challenge?”
She stopped suddenly and turned back.
“Hi, Ruby. Prof. Farrell wishes to see you. Are you prepared to see him now?”
To Ruby, anything that would make her leave the clinic and be with her Johnny and friends is welcome.
“Yes, Dr. Harmon,” she responded and got up from the bed at once.
“It is all right. You can join me in the office after you have freshened up.”
“It is noted, Doctor.”
Although she was still sleepy, she got out of bed at once and headed for the bathroom, where she gargled with water and washed her face. She adjusted her hair to her satisfaction and joined the doctor.
“I'm set, Doctor,” she announced.
“That's good. Come with me.”
Neither the doctor nor Ruby was expecting to meet the Vice Chancellor with visitors, so, they walked in leisurely. Now, Ruby was terrified when she saw Sir Stewart, who looked so much like Johnny. Her feet wobbled, and she tried hard to steady herself.
“Good evening, Prof. Farrell. Good evening Sir and Ma'am,” she greeted. 
Now she had gained composure and looked at Prof. Farrell. Meanwhile, Dr. Harmon greeted them and stood aside.
“Good evening. You can take your seats.” Prof. Farrell said and motioned them to the couch. 
Now, Ruby could not take her eyes off the couple, just the way they stole a glance at her too.
“How is she, Dr. Harmon?”
“She is fine and six weeks gone. She frowned at abortion when I suggested it.”
Sir Stewart gave his wife a familiar look, and she looked back at him. Meanwhile, Prof. Farrell was pleased with the report of the doctor. 
Then he gave Ruby a warm smile and commended, “You are a good girl, Ruby, I know you won't let me down.”
“Thank you, Prof. Farrell, for believing in me.”
“You are welcome. You seemed to like my guests.”
She looked at Sir Stewart and his wife again and smiled softly. Meanwhile, the smile carried enough message, and the couple was pleased with it. 
“Ruby.”
“Yes, Prof.”
“Do you know them?”
She looked at them happily and nodded in disapproval. 
“I see. They have an interest in you and wish to adopt you and your baby. I desire to place you in a loving home where you and your baby will experience family ties. What do you think?”
Now, all eyes were on Ruby and her eyes were moist. 
“Do they love me?” She asked anxiously when the thought came to her mind with a sob. 
Now, Dr. Harmon and Prof. Farrell focused on Sir Stewart and his wife for their response. Nevertheless, Lady Stewart understood the question and was moved to tears. She remembered when Johnny was young and lonely. Then, she got up from her seat and walked to Ruby's couch. Thereafter, she spread her hands and Ruby got up at once and hugged her tight.
“We love you, Ruby. I pray that you find us worthy to fill any vacuum that is in your life.”
At that point, Sir Stewart looked at the union and smiled happily because his wife was happy. Then, Prof. Farrell and Dr. Harmon looked at the two. 
To prove to the couple that she already loved them, she asked with a sincere longing,  “Can I address you as Mom?”
Now, Lady Stewart was amazed. She never expected that the bonding would take place so early.
“You are free to address me as your mom and my husband as your father. Did you get me?”
“I got you, Mom.”
Now, Prof. Farrell was pleased with himself for coming up with such an idea and indebted to the couple for making his wish come true. He smiled broadly as he watched the new family. Meanwhile, Lady Stewart took her by the hand and walked her to her husband.
“Meet my husband, Daughter. You can address him as Father.”
“Father," She called out at once. 
Nevertheless, Sir Stewart was overjoyed. He had never heard a female voice address him as a father.
“Daughter,” He responded enthusiastically and held her hand. 
Then, he looked at the Vice Chancellor and appreciated him, "Thank you, Prof. Farrell, for making this happen. We will not let you down.”
Now, the Vice Chancellor acknowledged the appreciation with a broad smile, “It is my pleasure.”
