“Hello, my Ruby," he greeted enthusiastically. “Hello, Johnny. I miss you. I am at the Senior Staff Clinic.” “Hold on. We are coming over.” “No. You…” (Cut) “Where is she?” “She is at the Senior Staff Clinic.” “Wow!” Carmine, who was unaware of the fracas which Ruby's call averted, exclaimed. Then, Stanley made a detour backward and headed to the gate. Likewise, Carmine placed a call to her at once and requested, "Hello, girl. Which ward are you?” “I'm in Dr. Harmon's room. Tell Johnny that he should not bother to come. The doctor said I needed rest.” “Okay.” “Rest my foot. Is she ill?” Stanley yelled. “Mhhm,” Johnny heaved. Although, Stanley never doubted Ruby's faithfulness, anything could happen, and he had to be proactive. Soon, they were at the Senior Staff Clinic. Before Stanley would pull up, Johnny was already out of the car. Meanwhile, Carmine was scared to her bone. She ran after him as he walked briskly after he got out of his car. 'What is wrong if the doctor said that she needed to rest?' Carmine thought within her, and she walked after him. “Good evening, Officer. I wish to see Dr. Harmon," Johnny requested from the security guard at the entrance, while Carmine looked on. Now, Stanley had joined him and Carmine held Stanley's hand firmly as if it could prevent anything. “Dr. Harmon is not on the seat. She had closed for the day.” “No problem. We know where we are going.” Stanley announced, walked into the clinic with Carmine and Johnny followed. They walked straight to the doctor's office and pushed the door open. Nevertheless, the security guard did not bother stopping them because, to him, they would only waste their time and afterward, come out if they did not meet Dr. Harmon. Just as the security guard said, she had closed. Johnny looked around and saw two other doors. He turned the door knob of one, but it was locked. Meanwhile, Stanley did the same on the second door and it opened. It happened to be the convenience. “Ruby,” Carmine called out. “Yes, Carmine,” she responded from inside the door that Johnny turned the knob. “My Ruby, open the door.” She opened the door at once and ran into Johnny, who held her with his right hand, and asked, “How are you?” “I'm fine.” She gave Stanley and Carmine a smile, and they smiled back. “Get your bag and let's go,” Johnny ordered. “Dr. Harmon said…” “Let's go,” he interrupted her. To avoid kicking and spoiling the door, she picked up her school bag and followed them. “Shut her door,” he advised her. She shut the door and they left. Now, they walked out of the clinic, and the security guard was pleased with their disappointment. “Good for them,” he thought. It had never occurred to him that only three people walked in, and four people walked out. They got into the car and Ruby was all over Johnny. He was not expecting it, but he bottled up all his questions and played along. Unfortunately, as they were about to drive out, they saw the Vice Chancellor driving in and their speculation appeared right before them. “I miss you, Johnny.” “I miss you too. What kept you since morning?” Although Stanley was driving, his attention was on Ruby's response. “I have been at the clinic. The doctor gave me an injection that made me sleep and eat a lot.” Carmine laughed and encouraged, “You ate for two.” Johnny and Stanley were not desiring Carmine's joke, so he asked at once, “What about your phone? Why was it switched off?” She giggled and said, “Prof. Farrell was angry with me because of the internet post, and he seized my phone. I called when I got my phone back.” “I see. We were all worried.” “I know. Did you miss us?” “Of course. I miss my two babies.” “Two babies indeed,” Carmine intruded. “Why won't Prof. Farrell seize your phone? The next time you post again, he will seize your hand,” Carmine chided “Or your brain,” Stanley added. “You won't do that again. Will you?” Johnny asked with a peck. “No. I won't do it again.” “You will do it again.” Stanley and Carmine pointed out at once. They laughed heartily and Ruby said, “Wait. Dr. Harmon gave me her contact. She said I should reach out to her.” Now, Johnny watched her bring her phone out of her bag and call Dr. Harmon at once, and she picked up in trepidation. “Hello, Ruby. How are you?” “I'm good, Dr. Harmon. And you?” “I'm good. Is anything the matter?” “Yes, Doctor. You said I should call you when there's an emergency.” Now, the three friends listened carefully and waited to hear the emergency she had in mind. Meanwhile, Dr. Harmon was beside herself, and she responded immediately, “Yes. I did. What is the matter? Talk to me, please.” “I have left the clinic.” Johnny ran his left hand through his head, and Carmine turned and glared at her. Then, the doctor calmed down and asked, “You have left the clinic, what is the emergency about it?” “I feel I should let you know.” “It is all right. I know that you would be lonely. The Vice-Chancellor must not know that you left.” “I got it, doctor." "You would return in the morning before your lectures and show yourself to him.” “I will, Doctor. Good night.” “It is all right. Take care of yourself.” (Cut) Then, Carmine drew her attention. “Ruby, you are funny. What is the emergency about your leaving the clinic.” “You scared the doctor,” Stanley pointed out. She looked at Johnny and asked, “Did I?” “Yes. When there is an emergency, she would not take your call seriously.” “I see. I will be cautious next time.” Soon, they were at home. They got out of the car and Carmine walked to the car trunk and got their stuff. “You can go in," Stanley announced and handed the key of the house to Ruby. The girls walked into the house happily, while the two men stayed back. They must get to the root of the Vice Chancellor's visit to the hostel and his mission to the Senior Staff Clinic at that time of the night.
